Overall very smooth European look, although the headlights leave me cold :)

Not bad looking. Better than the current model IMO.
The new Accord has taken a hit for having lights similar to the Genesis but this new Forte proves that the Koreans look to other brands for inspiration as well. I've said it before and I'll say it again, nearly every new car design has some datail that reminds me of another car.
The greenhouse on this vehicle strongly resemble the Civic's and details in the rear (tail lights and trunk shape) look similar to the Focus.

Why does the Kia look like a more resolved design than the Civic?? Oh Honda, how you have slipped.

Thanks for the comparisons.
That said, it really doesn't help much to have an idea when putting side by side:
- fancy shots with studio lighting of a top-end model (Forte)
- crappy real world ones with flat lighting of a base model (Civic)...
PS: Personally I prefer the Kia styling, but that changes nothing to what I said above.

regular wheels are going to look very small on this car, no? Otherwise another very pretty Kia.

This reminds me of Peugeot in front and Renault Megane at the back

Just like the Optima is a better looking sedan than the Sonata, I like this way better than the sElantra.

Looks pretty cool. But also, the design makes it looks very heavy..

That is actually a fantastic looking little car. I don't personally like the Optima (well at least everything but the front 1/4), but I really like this. It takes the class "shape" (whichis thanks to the 8th gen Civic), but manages to make it look more upscale and cohesive than all of the others. Where the Corolla and Civic are relatively boring, and the Focus is too much going on, this is a nice compromise IMO. IF it has decent mechanicals (which we know that the stole the rear suspension from an OX cart), then it should be fairly competitive.
But hey, with the way Hyundai/Kia/GM are returning to Ox cart suspenions, and Honda is moving away from DWB, in another 20 years we can look forward to riding in a Flinstone car. But hey, it will have Alpha PQD mind detection texting and a 60" big screen, so it will definitely represent "progress."

I wouldn't be surprised if Kia's internal docs said to make it like what the Civic should have been.

Nice looking car comparing to current Civic. Nice flowing lines. BUT if KIA keeps red dashboard I will not consider it. I drove current Forte in a nice sunny day and just barely was able to see odo and other info. Why the heck KIA pushes red dashboards? Cannot get a clue from parent (Hyundai) and go white?

Imho that's because Kia is supposed to be Hyundai group Audi's, i.e. the sporty and slighty upmarket brand.
Traditionally red dashboards are identified with sport(y) cars, which is why I believe Hyundai Group does it that way. I don't know right now, but traditionally most VWs used blueish/whiteish dashes while Audi's and Seats tended to be red.

I haven't seen shots of the coupe version yet, but I wonder how that front will translate to it.
