There are a lot of nice touches in the sedan--the subtle character line swell at the rear quarter, creasing toward the front fender.
But next to the Mazda6 and Ford Fusion, and even the Hyundai Sonata I don't find it that interesting. Granted style hasn't been the reason why people buy Accords, but competition is stiffening and I'm wondering whether this will be enough.

It is a very clean and "safe" redesign, very much in line with the route Toyota took with the new Camry, all-be-it with a higher degree of success I suppose. It does look WAY classier than the Camry. It will sell, just like the Camry, but I certainly prefer the new Fusion and Mazda 6 in terms of styling.
Yep, this is Honda doing their best Toyota impersonation, yet again. I don't hate this new Accord. I'm sure it'll be a solid family sedan that challenges for tops in class, but it doesn't really "blow me away" either, or make me stand up and say, "WOW!" Clearly, Honda really wasn't trying to blow us away though.

Styling is not the most compelling or most important reason to buy a car in this segment. Case in point: Camry/Accord vs Sonata/Optima.
That said, I think this car looks great. Simple, sophisticated, clean and much more cohesive than the current car. Looks like with what I am seeing preliminarily, we will gladly be buying another Accord.

You have to look at who Honda targets when thinking about the Accord. Yes the Sonata/Optima are direct competition but I read somewhere the average income of the potential Accord owner is over $100k. I highly doubt Hyundai targets those consumers.
I actually prefer conservative, proportioned and clean lines over gimmicky styling as it ages extremely well. Its also the subtle details which will make the car look and feel more expensive than it is.

I agree that this Accord will age extremely well.
I'm glad they did not over-style it.
Over-styled cars usually don't age well.

The styling is bland and boring. The front looks terrible the rear is better. The dildo front end styling isn't going to win many fans. People mover appliance buyers will still buy the car though.....the same type of people that shop Crosstour. If they put an optional 300 to 400HP into the car it would help. Accord type R anyone.

iahs2k, you are a drain on this website.
Do you read what you're typing before you hit the "Respond to Message" button?
I'm so glad that the car is clean looking. I was/am getting tired of all the overly "exciting" looking Hondas. Every time I see a 6th gen or earlier Accord I'm reminded of what the new one should shoot for. I think Honda is getting close. It's a good look.

Well said. People's Exhibit #1 for overstyled and now looking aged is the Sonata.
Classical style is always the best. While we don't have real pictures yet, hopefully the new Accord will look just as good in the production sheet metal and colors.

A 400hp FWD car? Yeah, that sounds grand...
Your fascination with insertion tools is fine by me but might I remind you that this a car website, and there are other things you can use to describe something, even if you don't like it.
