What kind of weirdo are you? The sales target for the GS is 24k a year its on target.
The Inifniti M sadly is selling very poorly but nothing sells as good as that RL!
The GS is by far the best selling and well received Japanese luxury sport sedan and its goal like the M and RL isn't to beat the Germans in sales. They just want their piece of the pie.
You do realize not every product was meant to sell #1 right. lol
Wow did you really look at 2006 GS figures. Did you take into account inflation and changed sales targets? No, you just look at numbers you don't understand.
When you get older you will understand in business products have their purpose, targets and niches. The GS in this case is meeting its niche and target.

Yep, it's a 1SICKLEX Post.
The only thing that's missing is the faking of insider knowledge.
The GS has sold at less than 2k/mo for more than a couple months now. It's below sales targets and it's a brand new model.
The GS is not the most well received Japanese sports sedan. That honor is still held by the Legend which ended sales way back in 1996. It is the only mid-size Japanese luxury sedan that has been able to outsell it's similarly priced German competitors, a feat Lexus has never been able to accomplish even when priced thousands less.
Yes, I looked at GS sales figures from 2006. It's called doing proper research to support my claims. You should try it sometime.
The point is the GS is below target and not even able to surpass sales of the last gen. This is a car that engineering wise, is vastly superior to the last gen and arguably the sportiest car in the mid-size V6 class. This was a car that lexus almost discontinued and is probably now regretting their decision to keep it alive.
And once again, instead of coming back with a legitimate response, you stoop to insults, the 1SICKLEX trademark of insecurity.

^^^^^ You're only fooling yourself if you think that the Legend was an entry level car. I guess we should also conclude that Lexus is comparable to Pontiac, Saab, Mitsubishi, and Mazda. Is that what you're saying? The article also is using an L model, which was the BASE Legend at the time and also the worst selling of the trim levels. It didn't even have leather. Everyone knows the best selling Legend was the LS and GS models, both of which had an MSRP of over $40k. The difference in price between a loaded ES and a loaded Legend was bigger than the price difference between a Legend GS and LS400. The Pricing of the Legend was more inline with the price of the GS300 of the time, which we all know was slaughtered by the competition.
Again, you've shown me that instead of making your own educated judgments, you continue to rely on what the magazines say. A true sheep.

It would appear that the inspiration for the new bizarro Lexus front ends came from the 1961 Plymouth Fury!

At least the Plymouth looked appropriate for it's time and class. This "new" LS is now a boy-racer trying to compete in a group of polo players. And yeah, we all know Lexus is known for imitating. And to think, some owners have the audacity to talk smack on Hyundai copying others.

Wasn't it an amazing time? Very diverse array and they all were pretty solid! Amazing how most don't exist anymore.
I always had a soft spot for the Diamante and 929 as well.

While I do see the similarities of the early LS to the Benz, due to the fact that a lot of cars of that era did have that same look, I don't see it on the other pictures you posted. I've never seem a Lexus and think oh look it looks like a Mazda, Hyundai or a Kia.

I've always liked how they kept the upright formal look of the LS through the generations, even though it was originally copied from Mercedes. At least Lexus kept at it. The W220 and W221 S-Class started to look melted, flexed and sort of lost some of that stateliness the W116~W140 had.
