I came running down the stairs this morning to go look under the Christmas tree. Damn! I got socks and underwear instead of that BB gun I asked for.

Thud ..... silence.
I guess they thought the previous Accord was already a classic, so good enough to clean up the details a bit
and call a MMC as all-new! ;-(

Nice, evolutionary look! Hopefully the drive train will come through, as well.

LOL CB77. I couldn't wait either. But I kinda figured I'd get socks & underwear so I was not overly excited. I was so disappointed when they unveiled the coupe at the NAIAS. Still, I like the revised sedan. The technological improvements should be be more impressive.

Yes, It looks like the tech improvements are going to have to carry this car. I guess the 2013 Coupe pictures should have been a giveaway that we couldn't expect much (in the way of appearance changes) in the 2013 Sedan. I don't know exactly what I was expecting...but it sure wasn't this. It looks like just a glorified MMC.

So the appearance is more of a really good MMC than a FMC, so what appeareance is just one aspect of the overall car.
We have only seen pre-production spy pics of the interior.
The CVT is all-new and we don't really know what to expect.
The ED 4cyl. is all-new and manual lovers will finally get a 6-spd option in the Sport trims.

The tech improvements on this new model sound impressive. I just think it is a shame that all these important new improvements are wrapped in such a little-changed body. First impressions and external appearances are very important, and a totally-new appearance would help get the public's attention, then they could learn about the tech features and buy it.

My approach is to not get my hopes up. It sure worked this time.

Agreed, but I still think these press photos do Honda no favors...

I guess I don't understand you all.
IMHO the Accord sedan looks very good. I've always liked the way the current C pilllar looks and now they have cleaned up the front end and added some nice sculpting to the side.
Notice the way the upper rear fender line is sculpted, with a "shoulder" above right where the C pillar and the rear fender and top of the trunk meet. I particular like that detail, it makes the car muscular.
IMHO the overall effect is a tighter, more muscular shape.
I prefer the fog lights in the sedan too. In the coupe they look a bit lost, those little round fog lights in that big opening. I think it would look much better if they fog lights were free standing and chromed tear shaped lamps in the middle of an opening for brake cooling.

TonyE,
I guess I was just hoping for as big a differentiation in appearance as we got between the Gen 7 and Gen 8 Accords. Maybe that just doesn't happen anymore.

The styling will not hold this new Accord back. Just like the new CRV, the Honda faithful will be signing on the dotted line.

After all the spy shots, these picts confirmed what we had seen.
Since I pretty much like my current 2010 EX (all I wanted were some more goodies, so now I am greedily eying the Touring), I am overall happy with the way the 9th gen is shaping up.
Yes it is not a big radical change, but IMHO why fix something that is not totally broken...
What disapoints me is:
- The poor pictures - Honda is not helping their own cause.
- Just 4 pictures (although deep down I know this was all we were likely going to get)
- Not interior pictures (I want to see them soooo badly!).
Now we will have to wait a full month before the next installement...
Then I will plan a test drive (even though I won't be pulling the "buy" trigger for another year) to find out whether the car (drivetrain, features, up close look) are really up to par.
If Honda over does the pricing of the Touring I will be phased with anohter issue: be "reasonable" and go EX-L or be very unreasonable a take a jump at the 40k price range and open up my options (after I find a killer reason to give the wife about me raising the budget soooo much).

The photos are horrible. The wheels on the sedan too. Otherwise on first look I thought it was the old model. Hmmm.
Also why wouldn't they put the front of the coupe onto the sedan?
