We all know the accords here are more evolutionary than revolutionary.
The sedan has grown up for sure... it looks mature, more polished and definitely upscale. Sure it looks like they used tracing paper off of the genesis sedan for the rear end, but hey if you're gonna copy a look, its a pretty nice one to do so with.
The front end of the sedan I think looks pretty sharp too... am I the only one that sees a little of the new Lexus GS in it? I think the picture hides the chrome surround of the grille a bit due to the color of the car... but on a darker shade, say black, i think it'll stand out quite nicely! Drop this thing 2 inches, slap some 20's on it and I think we have a definite winner over the likes of the Altima and Camry...
Personally I still think the Optima sedan is the best looking midsize player right now until the Fusion comes out.
This discussion of course is based only on looks. Since no one has driven em' yet, and pricing hasn't been released yet.
Now the more polarizing thing here is whats going on with the Coupe. Full disclosure, I owned a Pre-MMC 8th gen V6 Coupe for 2 years before trading it in. The car was gorgeous in my eyes. Best looking coupe (acura OR honda) since the 4th gen Prelude as far as I was concerned. Then the MMC happened. And its like someone pumped it full of botox... I mean tail lights were popping out bumpers were popping out... and for the life of me I couldn't understand why they just didnt leave well enough alone if they were going to kill the design the way they did.
So here comes the 9th gen, and they have pulled back all the bulges and drained the botox. But they've also killed some of the character I think. ESPECIALLY in the front end. I mean its not ugly by any means. But I remember my reaction to the 8th gen coupe concept, when it came out after a few years of the realllly rounded 7th gen coupe, it had some sharp edges, classic coupe shape, I mean it was practically begging to be a RWD GT car.
This new one though, for some reason isn't doing it for me. It looks too soft... too civic like...
Now I dont know what model we're looking at here, I dont know if the "sport" trim exists on the coupe, and if it does, what cues it will get to make it a little more aggressive.
Bottom line is it looks fine. But just fine. I know for a fact my 8th gen turned heads especially when it first came out and i first got it. (perhaps its because of everything I did to it) But I just dont see this coupe at least in these pictures turning heads the same way...
So for the first time in a while, I can honestly say if my money was going into another accord, I'd actually strongly consider the sedan over the coupe counterpart.

all that being said... heres to crossing my fingers that they're growing up the accord coupe to make room for a sporty coupe...
RWD Prelude? take on the FRS/BRZ?
one can only dream.

Rumor is S2000 would be revived in 2-3 years (source autonews). So rwd 2 seater.
Prelude, RSX or CL more practical for my needs so I hope they revive those one day but not happening anytime soon. The coupe is ok but like you say bit boring and not quite as sporty looking as it could.

I feel like s2000 rumors are like NSX rumors... we've heard rumors for 7 years now since the last NSX rolled off the line. And the first glimpse of hope is another attempt at a 'sporty' hybrid?
I guess my feeling is, if thats the kinda 'hope' we're looking forward to, I'd rather them just not bring it back... or call it the Del Sol or something other than the s2000.
At least they spared the CRX legacy by calling it a CRZ.
My dream would be a hard top coupe with a prelude name on it, some sort of high out put 4 cylinder (doesn't have to be turbo) - with power to the rear wheels. With rumors of the next 240Z (silvia) coming back soon... I'd love to see the Prelude grow up.
I think the s2000 has the brand recognition and reputation that built a legacy that shouldn't be F'ed with. And doing so in my head is a sacrilege. Think, 4 door, front wheel drive Toyota Supra. Its just wrong. So unless they can do it RIGHT. Bring back a name like the Prelude... it has the cred... but if they screw it up, its not like they killed a legend with crappy reincarnation.

The thing about the 8 gen coupe was that it was so nearly perfect in it styling, and easily made better (don't be shy Starbai - show some pics - I remember seeing it on driveaccord.net - wicked). Can't see the same potential here - but may be because it is just so similar to the 8 gen, which was very fresh when it came out.

Thanks bud... but I agree... Its okay looking... nothing to hate... just can't 'envision' the sexiness I did with the pre-mmc 8th gen coupe...
The ol' girls together... both gone now...

I think the new coupe looks sleeker. The way the hood bends down in the front with the thinner longer lights. This Accord has a much improved front to it. No longer does it look like a mix between a car and a truck.

Pre-MMC coupe was a very striking design. This new one is definitely worse up front--more bland, less aggressive and distinct. At least the rear looks better, but meh.

I agree the slight downward bend of the hood at the very front of it is very welcome... what lets it down is the bumper/grille design...
That honeycomb crap looks so plain and cheap.
theres no sculpture to the front bumper at all.. I dunno I think the likes of the new mazda 6, ford fusion, etc... has spoiled a lot of us into hoping for something dramatic and fresh.
This is more of the same, with slight tweaks, that in some ways are good and some ways aren't great, which essentially is a wash (at best) in terms of improvement.

Love the s2000, and the 8th gen Accord Coupe MMC.
I never could warm up to the 8th gen pre-mmc coupe, and the points made about the rear tail light is spot on.
But as for the front, IMO the MMC coupe fixed the bland face that the the pre-mmc had, and the lip kit didn't do it for me.
This new accord coupe is a step in the right direction, but it doesn't exude as much class and sophistication as the the new sedan does. Honeycomb grille designs feel old, but they are structurally sound and rigid. The new coupe's rear reflector reminds me too much of the Subaru's rear, the Toyota highlander rear. It should have remained a horizontal reflector instead of vertical.
I second the need for Honda's Prelude to return to the line up. If you combine the last two generation Preludes and super-impose them on one another, the result is something rather close to the HSV-010GT.
Honda - don't bring out some s3000 car and ruin the s2000 legacy. The Prelude is the perfect nameplate for which to create a near luxury 2+2 coupe that should be a sleek, affordable sports car. No convertible necessary, no hardtop convertible necessary either. If s2000 owners are looking to buy the OEM hardtop and are even removing the retractable hardware, just make it a 2+2 coupe with a respectable trunk space.
Judging by Acura's recent Facebook polls/surveys and postings, I'd say Acura is keenly aware of the need of a 2+2 and it may very well be the Integra nameplate. Be it the Integra or Prelude, a 2+2 is needed. The Accord coupe doesn't count in my opinion.
