It's handsome, but I was really hoping for a little more pizazz. It's hard to form a real opinion about it with such a meager release of photos. No side view? No interior shots?
I like the new grille, headlights (projectors, finally!!!) and the taillights, but they still come across as more of an MMC level of change than an FMC. After all, grille, headlights and taillights are often changed for an MMC. I have a 2011 Accord in the same color and looking at the photos, it's pretty much like looking at my current car.
Anyway, it's easy to predict the reaction of the press and the "non-fanboys". The press will be diplomatic and call it "conservative and evolutionary" and the non-fanboys will call it boring and "old school Buick rising from the dead". When even Toyota is showing signs of moving toward more radical styling with the new Avalon, I can't help but think that this may be a step in the wrong direction for Honda.

Yup.
"Too similar to the old gen"
"This car looks 10 years old before it is even released"
"More evidence that Honda has become your grandfather's Oldsmobile"
It's decidedly more revolutionary than the Civic redesign, so this should get less shit than the Civic did. Furthermore, while being evolutionary compared to the 8th gen, it doesn't look bad. It isn't overly different, like the Sonata, or the Optima, but it looks like this will age way better than both.

yeah, whats up with not differentiating from past generations? this has limited photos, but i am unsure why honda isnt changing much, just like the civic, just tweaked from the prior generation. in the past it was easy to tell when an FMC occurred.
Does look nicer though, not sure on the coupe.

I think Honda is playing with fire again when it comes to their photo dept.
Is the car ugly? No. But does it look as sleek and show off its elegant surfacing shown in some spy shots? No.

They were stingy with the photos which is a disappointment.
Sure they could have gone a little more radical but they don't really need to, this sedan is unquestionably more chiseled than the current version which, particularly pre-MMC ('08-'10), is one of the most boring designs period.

I'll agree to disagree on the gen 8, which I think is much more attractive than it was ever given credit for. But "more chiseled" seems like something Honda fans will clamp on to, but will be lost on pretty much everyone else.

I agree with this. It's almost like they purposely picked the angle that makes it look most like the current gen sedan. AHM still hasn't figured out how to take a great photo.

This is such a "safe" redesign. Something VW and BMW are rarely criticised for. But nicer for sure. Unlike the Civic it doesn't from these shots appear to have controversial design elements like those plastic bit at the a and c pillars.
Someone on autoblog pointed out the apparent severe rear toe-in in the sedans's photo(shop). Not for real for sure, but it would be nice if this sort of thing didnt happen.
Of course those photos do nothing to salivate unlike the beautiful part images we have seen of the Mazda 6. Then again the 6 interior looked awful. Whereas the Accord looks quite promising.
Headlights look interesting, unlike the 8 gen's bug eyes.

Ack! I hope to Jebus the interior was some sort of test mule. It looked like it was lifted directly out of the CX-5.
