From Motor Trend.
It seems to be a great car for those who don't care about or enjoy driving! Here's an opening for Acura!! Can they do it?

Hey now, the ES is great for its purpose- a very comfortable, high quality commuter. It's not for those who don't care about or enjoy driving; it's for those who have unbearable commutes filled with assholes, potholes and noise. In that sense it does exceedingly well.

Shouldn't you be posting New York Times articles?

The 2013 ES is indeed a good car, hence my post. Because we are looking for a true mid-size near-luxury hybrid, the ES 300h deserved a look. We're disappointed in the new ES 300h based on the MT assessment. I might say the same for Acura's current offerings. Word has it that there's a smaller Acura TL hybrid coming in the spring of 2013. (Did I get that right?). If Acura gets it right, it sounds like a possible alternative to the ES 300h for the rest of us.

BTW, I focus on anything that's interesting. The NYT, MT & BW are good reputable sources for interesting material.

You actually consider Motor Trend and NYT reputable for automotive related news and reviews? =D

Well, a lot of your interests apparently focus in the political lounge. What do you mean "we're" disappointed in the ES300h? You actually consider Motor Trend and NYT reputable for automotive related news and reviews? =D

I try to keep my "Reading Links" strictly business-technical, without touching politics. (The Political Lounge and Reading Links should be orthorinal to each other.) And yes, the NYT, BW and MT are recognized as reputable in their own spheres. (Surely you're just tweaking me.) At least they tend to suppress blatant hatchet jobs. Admittedly, MT does have the potential for conflict of interest based on advertising revenue, but their ES review would seem to disprove that angle in this case.

The new Lexus "spindle" grill may be almost worse than Acura's initial "power plenium" designs. It looks especially awful on the upcoming LS. Why are automakers trying to mimic Audi? It's a hideous look, imo. The massive A8 grill is atrocious.

I like the current Audi A4 grill! Not sure I like Lexus' new grills either. I certainly know I don't like the Acura grills.

Forget the commentaries on MT, C&D and R&T..

The G300H has 200bhp.... have you considered the Acura TSX?

I think you know where I'm coming from... We're looking for a well appointed, good handling "sporty" car that uses regular gas and is either a hybrid or diesel, pushing >35mpg. We just came back from looking at the 2013 Lexus ES350, and sadly it looks like a pretentious Buick. We also looked at the 2013 Lexus GS-hybrid. Compared to the 2013 Lexus GS' style and interior appointments the ES is really boring (IMO). Attached to the GS-Hybrid is a $64K price tag and premium gas!
Love to see the TL (or a new TSX) like I described above.
