Yeah, we already knew that was an official release, but excuses have to be made just in case.

People so easily believe and swallow the Ford propaganda, this time why not believe the Honda propaganda?
This fall we will begin production in Ohio of the all-new ninth-generation 2013 Honda Accord. As you will discover in a few short months, this new Accord is not one-dimensional. It excels in all areas … advancing the Accord's outstanding fun-to-drive performance, high fuel economy and leading safety features … the same formula that has helped to make Accord a Car and Driver 10 Best pick for an unprecedented 26 of the last 28 years.
This new Accord is a special car befitting the 30-year milestone … a benchmark vehicle built in a benchmark auto plant. And we are taking on a number of challenges in the Marysville Plant to make it happen.
As one example, the current model has an instrument panel with a total of 16 seams and is assembled from four separates pieces. For the new Accord, we will have a seamless, one-piece panel with an integrated airbag lid. In addition to a beautiful design, this helps achieve a quieter cabin with better road insulation and less opportunity for rattles or squeaks that can occur with conjoined pieces.
This is the first time the Marysville Plant will complete the entire instrument panel assembly process in-house. It is a very challenging project that features a number of unique processes. This includes a very precise ultra sonic knife to score perforations into the substrate and underside of the panel topcoat for airbag deployment … and construction of a new seismic floor – six feet deep into the plant floor – to eliminate vibrations that could cause variations in the perforation. A new vibration weld machine also was added for the airbag hinge.
The resulting soft-touch instrument panel is part of a stunning interior … that will help Accord stand out from the crowd.
This generation of Accord also will feature multiple new powertrain technologies from our new Earth Dreams series … including an all-new 4-cylinder direct injection engine … new sporty CVT transmission … new 6-speed manual transmission … and a plug-in electric hybrid model.
Moreover, Accord's new powertrains … the new direct injection engine and V6 engine … and the CVT and 6-speed automatic transmissions … are being produced at our engine and transmission plants in Ohio. It's a big responsibility … and a major challenge. |

Again, if I remember right that was an internal communication of AHM that precisely CB77 shared with us in the forums.
No information should be given without context, and that message is not intended to address consumers like us but to rise up the courage within the company. If you work or have ever worked for a large corporation you should know what I'm talking about (the character of company internal communication/PR)... Put it this way, most soldiers would find their opponents pre-battle speech groundless and laughable. But battles aren't decided on those speeches; they are won or lost on the fields.
Thanks again to CB77 for sharing those bits with us, just hope that people understand what they are and do not pretend them to be something different.

I may be jumping the gun here but there are a couple of things that make the think that the new Accord will be "the car" of the segment.
- Erik Berkman, who I have complete confidence in and who has personally stated that the Accord will regain its status.
- EarthDreams drivetrains, which from what I've read are pretty impressive in all areas of performance.
- The fact that Honda FINALLY has come to terms that it must do something and remain consistent.
I really think the Accord is the starting point for all other Honda/Acura products.

I'm also keeping hopes up, really hoping for the best, unfortunaly I haven't read what you have, anything impressive compared to competitors but I keep my hopes up.
FE improved by 20%
HP up by 15%
Thank you, otherwise the target was set too low. I do not care one iota about forced induction/natural aspirated/electric, I just want a good engine that delivers the goods in a refined way. So when I press the pedal I know my money went to the most sophisticated car engine manufacturer :)
Honda, we are so excited and waiting, don't disappoint now.

I am excited to see I am not the only one counting down. Reading all the negative comments here in TOV and elsewhere (some totally justified, some others less so) I feel better knowing I am not the last optimistic standing :)

Looking forward to the release. However, the coupe concept unveiling at the NAIAS left me so underwhelmed. Given the spy shots of the sedan, I don't expect much of a difference, styling-wise, from the current generation. I trust the technical advancements will more than make up for that.

Yea I check this site and others ALL the time, I'm shocked we didn't get any totally undisguised pics at all. Hopefully Honda will reveal some full body shots tomorrow and not just teaser pics! September 5 can't get here fast enough.

November of last year (?), Honda invited select automotive journalist to sample pretty much everything that falls under the new ED name. Jeff also was in attendance and sampled a few different settle and from his analysis came away impressed. Another publication (that article is on here somewhere) also came away impressed with everything they sampled. Given the positive comments from more than one source and the fact that Honda has had more then enough time to tweak even further gives me a positive outlook on what the Accord will have to offer. I really think this is the beginning of good things to come.

It's a US release, so I would expect it to be released in US time.

Otherwise it would have been released by now, huh? It's like _tomorrow_ in Japan for us.

Thanks for your kind reply, and my apologies to P54.
I thought it came from one of your posts, but I guess I got things mixed up (which is also why I started with "if I remember right"; wasn't sure).
So the ball is out there on that one, let's see how it turns out in about one day. Can't wait !

(must admit my post was a bit rude).
And thanks for the constant stream of Honda-News you keep bringing up on TOV !

So 5 hours and 1 minutes to go? Or am I confusing EST to EDT? What is EDT? Nevermind, EDT is daylight savings on the East Coast. WTF, just keep it named EST all year long. :) haha
