I am slightly worried about how much the price increase will be. Hopefully the LX stays below $25,000.

I seriously doubt the base LX will start above $25k, or even close to it. I think it will start somewhere a little north of the 2012 LX Premium price, maybe $23,400 - $24,000. I know that the current Accord starts out at $21,480. But the percentage of folks who purchase this model is so small, it's not a big problem for Honda. Remember when Honda removed the DX for the current model? Accord did ok

And if people show real interest they can always add the DX again.

Why need an Acura if all these features are available in a Accord?
What's left to differentiate the two brands? I guess just engine choices and a few tuning here and there.

really? - CRV LX gets all that except chrome (costs nothing) and the dual zone (cheaper if all the rest of the range has it). Actually I dunno about Pandora as nothing gets it in Canada. prefer Rdio anyway. I suspect Canadians will get XM across the range. Is SMS gonna work on phones people actually use (iphones and androids)? I know they use different protocols but blackberry is dying.

"8 in. i-MID TFT screen"

If this thing comes standard... that's pretty huge value.

EX-L adds to L4 EX-L:

• LED Daytime Running Lights

Really? I just hope they don't end up being cheesy.

Larger info screens are becoming very common these days. Glad to see Honda finally realize this.

The Hyundai Veloster comes standard with a 7 inch screen, and the Camry has a large one as well.

CR-V LX also doesn't get the Dual Zone Auto AC (neither standard or as an option) or the standard security system. The fact that you over looked these makes me think you're just trolling. Even more so, why compare the CR-V to the Accord? Few consumers looking at an Accord are also considering the CR-V. But then, isn't the CR-V selling really well (#1 or #2)? So why not follow the formula for this success across Honda's model range in terms of content? I'm also sure there are other things that will differentiate the Accord from the CR-V that must be considered.

Anyway, my whole point was that Honda is taking notice of the competition and is going all out in terms of feature content, and the fact that the CR-V comes standard with most of this stuff also strengthens my point.

I bet the next generation TSX/TL (TLX?) will step up to BMW and Mercedes level of luxury. They will probably have high quality leather, panoramic sunroofs, bi-xenon HID headlamps, ultra premium audio system, that kind of stuff.

Not trolling at all - why would I - I sell them. My bad on the alarm side of things - its the Civic LX that has the alarm system. I covered, and others have also, the dual zone aspect.

The base Accord in Canada right now has alloys, power seat, XM, 6 CD, so it`s not really lacking equipment - but I am pleased the new Accord in base trim is going to be as well equipped if not better than the CRV. And as for people cross shopping CRVs and Accords - that is a major reason why Accord sales in Canada at least have collapsed. The number of people who have switched from Accords to CRVs here is huge. Sales of Accords now are so minute its easy to forget why people bought them in the first place. The Accord used to have such a massive ride, refinement, performance advantage, and now it doesn`t. Sure it steers and handles better but 99% of people don`t care. CRVs have far higher resale value. Way more practicality. 4WD (most people reckon they need it here). It`s easier to park. most women like to sit up higher. They are the same price.

The new Accord doesnt need to win back these customers from CRVs - it needs to win back the sedan buyer who has defected to Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota and VW. So it needs to offer clear tangible advantages over these cars. I`d say Toyota is doing great with the Camry as it still offers a refinement advantage and in V6 form is real fast. The Nissan has lots of features and killer cash and finance deals, the Kia and Hyundai are a mug`s eyeful...to some extent.

Not much, but still some luxury upgrades
-AWD
-Amplitude reactive dampers
-PUSH BUTTON START
-Heated AND COOLED seats (driver memory)
-BETTER LEATHER
-HIDS (though Touring likely has this)
-BETTER SOUND INSULATION? (noise cancellation)
-thicker windows? (merely speculative)
-auto-dimming rear view mirror (an accessory on Honda models)
-Acura care/perks?
-luxury tinted side mirrors?
-requires premium gas...

WOW, All standard! Honda is stepping up the game!!!!

Seems to be missing power drivers seat. So now you have to jump to an EX to get a power seat since there is no LX-P trim level?
Power seat should be standard and move the dual zone AC to EX if needed.
Maybe it just wasn't mentioned since enen Camry LE has power seat available and it otherwise has fewer features than this new LX Accord.

Sport trim has a 8way power seat and slots between the LX and EX.

Not the same. Sport trim equals 18 inch rims which means super pricey tire replacement costs, short tread life, even more road noise, rougher ride.
Maybe an insurance cost bump for "Sport" model.
Fog lights would be nice. Don't care about paddle shifter and rather not have spoiler unless it is super subtle.
LX with power seat would have been better.

Memory-free power seats suck. I'd rather have good manual adjustments and some other feature than power seats with no memory function.

I've stated the same thing ad nauseum in other threads! (Just yesterday I had my 2006 Accord EXL-V6's steering wheel re-dyed (LeatherMedic, a national franchise--$90, and 90 minutes of time, and it looks brand-new) and driver's seat cleaning. Of course, they moved the seat just a bit, and I've been fiddling with it since!) Instead of giving the passenger a four-way power-seat (WTF?!), could they not put a memory function on any car with power seats?!)

Of course with all the new tech. on the Accord, along with what looks like an effort to filter some of it down the trim lines, e.g. automatic climate control standard across the range, from the lowliest LX on up, could they possibly be adding the memory function to all power seats, with links to the keys and mirrors, say, in the EXLs and up?

(I've Googled around for "power seat memory retrofit," and nobody does it. Pre-wire the driver seat area, and the CAN-bus (which seems to be the deal-killer for memory retrofits) on all Accords, then offer an accessory package (with no linked key--you have to push the button on the door, big whoop) that includes the actuators with position sensors, the control unit, and R&R of the seat to facilitate the install. Price it ~$350 for cars with power seats, $500 without--you'd have takers--someone in a household with multiple drivers who doesn't want leather or a moonroof could have an LX with the latter package. I'm surprised that someone like College Hills Honda in Wooster, OH hasn't taken on something like this on their own!)

Needless to say, I hope that TOV's servers can handle the first reveal next week, much less the September release of the full specs!
