The NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) is investigating two complaints regarding the 2013 Infiniti JX35’s Intelligent Brake Assist system. The complaints claim JX crossovers autonomously engaged the emergency braking system, causing the crossover to come to an immediate, complete stop at an inappropriate time.

As you add more complex features, bugs are going to crop up more and more. I think that's part of the reason the Germans got such a bad rep. The cars were solid, but ever so complex and the odds of failure compound quickly as you add system on top of system.
Infiniti has bigger problems though. Their lineup is getting very stagnant and they haven't really primed the pump with any good teasers of new vehicles. The JX will help volume, but my local dealer still has some new 2011 G's and is offering $5k-$7k off a variety of M's and G's on the lot.
Hope they get their stuff together.

Just my opinion, but it would help if those Inifinti vehicles weren't so "awkward" looking. Me thinks they make the Acura snozzle look almost attractive. :)

I agree. I will be considering an Accord V6 next year and while I think It’s great that they offering more content, I think I could do without the collision warning. To this day, I'm accident free without such features. I would gladly trade it for something more simple like reverse tilt down for the mirrors or memory linked seat/mirrors/steering position.
About Infiniti, you think they may just be keeping things under wraps? Considering cars are becoming so competitive, I’m thinking withholding info until the last minute may become more common. I said it a while back and I noticed someone else mentioned something similar the other day, but I think Toyota may have some tricks that they are keeping under the rug, especially in hybrid tech. Nissan has Pure Drive?, Mazda has Skyactiv, Honda will have Earth Dreams. I personally think they are waiting to see how ED perfoms.

The other problem was they offered so many silly options, the engineers couldn't properly test all the perms & combinations.
They ended up using FREDs to test FREDs and the result was inevitably a lousy substitute for real-world testing.
The Japanese generally follow the Henry Ford maxim and so are better-tested. But the more of these nanny aids they offer, the greater the chance of issues.
I'll have future cars with as little of this stuff as possible, thanks. Base model with a big engine, please.
