These next few years (2013-2020) should be very interesting. The return of the NSX, more and more electric and electric-assisted vehicles, plus all the mobile device integration.

Doesn't look as good as I was expecting.
Though I am happy that they're coming back with a wagon version.
Hopefully the sedan looks as good as the the Takeri Concept.

And another thing to note.
The Altima, the Accord, and now this are all aiming for "best in class" fuel economy.
Surely, there can't be 3 bests?

1) Hope the supersized grille is NOT real!
2) The interior is a serious letdown, the center console so 90s.
3) Inspired by Takeri???
4) It will be seriously underpowered by a 2.0L 155 hp engine.

1. I'm not very fond of some of these large grilles either, but I think this will at least look better than the Fusion's.
2. I will reserve judgement until I see better pics, but I agree, the picture shown doesn't wow me and I expected a little more style to match the exterior.
3. I think it looks pretty close.
4. Just curious where you read this... I didn't see it mentioned in the article unless they removed it for some reason. If that's true, I hope this car will be lighter than the current 6.

If they bring that station wagon.........errr........Shuttle over here to the States and it becomes a hit, how long before others tool up with wagon versions of their midsize cars? Mazda needs a hit, a niche, and this may be it. A station wagon cheaper than a Outback.

The render looks gorgeous.
It doesn't look like the spy shot though. Front end is too long, and the spy shot seems to have a really toned down version of the front fender flare.

The perspective of the spy pic is distorted because the camera is much closer to the car then the pic used for the render. While I agree the car won't look as aggressive but if the photographer was further away it would look more like the render...

It's still there at LLN.
Mazda hopes that the next-gen 6 will be able to boast best-in-class fuel economy. To achieve that ambitious goal, the car will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Skyactiv-G gasoline engine. Buyers will be asked to choose between a six-speed manual transmission, and a six-speed automatic.

My apologies, I should have been more clear. I read that part, but I was actually referring to the 155hp rating. I noticed someone on LLN quoted the same hp rating so I thought that info may have been removed from the article.
It's just hard to believe that they would drop 15hp, even if the new car is going to be significantly lighter.

That Navi system in the spy pic surely can't be production - looks a horrid after market install.

It's gonna be a good looking wagon, no doubt, but that interior is straight from a Chrysler rental car. No good. Shame, since the 3 looks much better than the civic's mish mash, apart from the round corner vents and square center console vents.

From a grainy cell phone quality shot, it is impossible to tell quality. It does look similar to the CX-5, which is well put together.
I happen to like that payout better than the spaceship looking shots of the new Accord.

Autoguide put together a rendering based on the spy photos and the teaser videos that Mazda released.
If the handling, features, and MPGs are kick @$$, I would consider (ugh) ... getting an AT for this car (and partly because wife is pushing for an AT in my next car). But still hoping for a 6MT in GT trim.

If only the front was actually going to be that long...
Best looking mid-size that I've seen.

so similar - but autoguide's looks as good as a maserati up front whereas the other looks relatively bland.

What you think of Ford Fusion?
I think cars with too many curves makes them look dated, like Sonata. If the new Mazda6 will look something like this then IMO it will be only hit for few months.

I think it looks nice.
But I still think the Mazda6 render looks better. That one's still fresh to me.
Rear of the A-pillar, aside from a character line or two, the Ford Fusion looks very similar to the last gen Ford Mondeo, which I've seen enough of.

My only problem with the Focus is that it's relatively slab sided. It looks a bit fat from some angles, whereas the 6 rendering not only looks fresh but it's not overly tacky like Hyundai's designs.

The CX-5 won a Ward's 10-best interior so I think they are doing something right!

Mazda has released 4 teasers now about the car. While they do have appeal, they are also kind of annoying. Nissan did the same thing with the Altima.
In any event, if the Mazda6 looks 85% as good as this, they should have a winner as long as MPG's are very good. They need to be at least as good as the Altima's rating of 38 highway and 31 combined without a CVT. What I am looking for is the oil burner. The skyactiv-d is supposed to be a kick-ass engine.
I know the Accord won't look this good, but I am very curious to see what kind of performance and economy Earth Dreams will bring. Skyactiv seems to work well with Mazda, so I will have to take a look.
I should be in the market for a car in about 4 months. The mid-sized segment is virtually all-new. I might have a tough time deciding what to buy!

Deux Chevaux front fenders?
I think Mazda likes to shoot itself on the foot too when it comes to its front fenders. Instead of integrating them into the body work. like BMW, they like to separate the front fenders from the main body work. It seems to be their design style and this new one looks even worse (IMHO) than the current one.
It looks good from some angles, but from others it's a disaster. The front shot here looks nice but the side profile looks bad. We'll see what the three quarter looks are like.
