I had almost forgotten how much nicer Acuras are over Hondas.

Our TSX Wagon is simply all over the Accord.

Anyone who has driven an Acura will tell you how much better buttoned down, how much more lithe, how much smoother they are over their Honda counterpart.

You can keep you Accord, I've driven/tried a bunch but when it comes down to it, I really much prefer the Acura version.

MUCH MORE.

So I wait to see if they will do a TSX or if they will lower the price on the TL (they did that in '99) or if they will finally do the ILX proper.

Personally, I would love it if the TSX were just four inches longer in the back cabin.... AWD would be delectable too and a 2.6 ED engine with 230 bhp and 200 ft/lbs would be fantastic.

+1 - except that I would not want any increase in rear legroom to be at the expense of overall length. Both the TSX and TL are cramped in the back for the overall size, and the trunk is not great either - much scope for improvement surely. i have no problem with the TSX and TL being combined as long as the range of models and price is similar to now. The ILX is simply inferior to the current TSX inside and outside. be really interesting to see how the new accord is compared to the TSX.

I have to disagree with you and I am so glad that customers are also. The TSX has really been out classed by the ILX. The reviews from those actually driving it are great. We have both in our showroom and the ILX is the design that is turning heads. I also sold Honda for years and haven't seen this kind of reaction to a car since the S2000 first came out. Every other person is coming it wanting to see it, even if they are looking at MDXs.

@Teamhondaguy: And what is the hit ratio of purchases from all these people looking at the car? How does it compare the the hit ration of models like the MDX, TSX or TL?

No Tech (no Navi, ESL audio, etc, etc..) on the ILX..... that kills it for me.

Besides, I got the '12 wagon with the roof rails too.

If I want to go fast, we also got the '12 Civic Si with NAVI and LSD...

Life is suddenly sweet.

Unexpected comment from team Honda - as surely the car with the reaction is the new RDX - which is selling at triple the ILX rate in the US and Canada. It was the fifth best selling luxury car in Canada last month. Early days for ILX but your comment really surprises me. RDX is ahead of targets in both countries - ILX is not anywhere near. Early days of course. The ILX ought to be attracting attention as it is new and unseen - whereas the TSX is.....not. It is not outclassed by the ILX in any respect. Slightly better mpg, slightly lower price. 2.4 is slightly quicker. Doesnt amount to outclassing. Less i am missing something. IMHO of course.

Acura better then Honda?! Please... they are all Honda!

The real line up is only in original market.
So here: Legend - Inspire - Accord - Civic
Civic is not there anymore, and since then is suffering.

ILX better then TSX!? Wow...

Actually, this Accord is the successor of your TSX and will be sold as such in Japan. I'll take this over an ILX anyday of the week and pocket the difference.

I'm glad I don't have to pay for the dubious prestige of the Acura name to get a well-equipped Honda product. If the Sport has no handling enhancements over the LX, I would be happy as a clam with a base LX and a six-speed :)

No, just laying out the factx... Acuras are always better trimmed and much better laid out in terms of dynamics.

So, it's not the Accord that will matter the most for the enthusiasts but the situation with the TL, TSX and ILX.

Will the TL come down in size and price?
Will the TSX really go away or will AHM introduce an upmarket Accord? TSX ED Wagon?
Will the ILX ever go the right way and introduce a 2.4L Type S with Tech/NAVI, ELS, AT6SS/MT6 and LSD?
Will we ever see an ILX-R?

And, no, the ILX is no TSX. Not yet by a long shot.

After all... currently, if I want to go fast, I got an Si.... ;-)

Come on, be serious... I've owned several Accords and TLs over the years... plus Civics, Integras/RSX and now the TSX.

And sometimes we've owned one of each at the same time: Si/RSX-S, TL/Accord, Civic/GSR. And I can tell you that the driving difference from one to the other was not subtle on the road. The Acura always was the more satisfying one to drive even if they shared the same platform.

The price of entry into Acura is more than just foo foo and prestige... it's also a better set up suspension and a few doo dahs that do make your life better (auto HVAC, auto mirrors, seat memory, headlights, stereo, etc...).

Also, but not always, the Acuras have more power.

OK, so the new Accord looks very good right now... my interest will be on the future of the TSX. If AHM decides to sell a TSX ED Wagon...

Tony (no offense) your late lamented Gen7 Accord 6-6 easily would walk away from your new Si..........

And it really (MHO) wouldn't give up much in fuel numbers either..........

I sat in an Acura coupe - liked it too. But the sticker (33k) shock made me subscribe to deferred gratification.

I laid out $23.4 for the Gen7 Accord 6-6 in my garage. I continue to look for a possible replacement (nothing is forever)..............but I really (again MHO) don't see much out there...........

best, ez.........

If we were comparing the current Accord to the TSX, I'd be in agreement with you.

But the new Accord has more features than any current Acura product out there, newer engine technology and while I'm not sure it might satisfy discriminating Honda cognoscenti like yourself when it comes to being as refined as an Acura, I'm sure it should hold its own handling-wise.

The only nitpick I have with the car is that I'm scared that the base audio system will acoustically suck in the finest Honda tradition and there's no way to put in an aftermarket unit. I guess I could get a reverse harness and wire in an Alpine KTP-445 if the system is lacking authority.

Of course the TLX will be better than the Accord but Honda's in a position right now where they had to do something big with the Accord and it's a big win for consumers. Personally, I'd prefer an Accord with wishbones at all corners with an EarthDreams engine than an ILX with struts and a K-series for less money. Hopefully Honda continues to trickle in a few Accords made in Japan.
