So I was in the UK for a week, and I made a point of visiting a Honda dealer and looking at the UK Civic.
I was STUNNED by how nice the Civic dash and interior in general was handled, compared to the US version. It's much better thought out (once you get past the fact that everything is on the wrong side), and conceptually striking.
It seems to me the easiest thing for Honda to do to improve the interior of the US civic would be for modify the Euro Dash to fit the US interior size.
Anyone know if that is what they are doing?

........I'm sorry.
In regards to what Honda might be doing, my bet is that they will just bring the Asian Civic dash over... Exactly the same look but better materials. Hoping they prove me wrong.

Or even easier: bring the Civic hatch to America! It could sell along side our Civic, like it does in Australia.

I agree about the Civic hatch. Thought they were very nice. However, I prefer the USA front end treatment to the Euro light-beam look

I've been harping for the longest time now for Honda to sell the Civic hatchback here in the U.S. Why the hatchback was ever discontinued here is beyond me. Every other major automaker now sells a C-segment hatchback in the U.S. except Honda. I totally fell in love with the 2012 9th-gen European Civic hatchback when I first saw spy pics of it. It's beautiful inside and out.
By the way, I've checked out pics of the 9th-gen Asian Civic and it looks just like our U.S. version. The only thing that is different is the silver strip on the door panels and a sliding cupholder. The material quality looks the same as the U.S. model. The texturing on the plastics looks the same to me.

I haven't been in one yet, but someone else (sadlerau?) didn't find anything wrong with the interior quality-- a step up from 8th gen even (IIRC)

When it comes to bring the UK Civic here: it would be too expensive to be worth it... Probably a price well into Accord range... :-(

Everything is on the wrong side lol. The perfect 'side' is in the middle.

I spent a week in the UK in May visiting family. My niece has a CRV. I didnt spend any time in it but I did notice the headllight washers, parking sensors and ,of course, mirror mounted turnsignals.Wheels were pretty nice too.
Steering wheel was on the "other side"

Headlight washers are mandatory in the UK if you have HIDs (which CRVs have).

Why would that be the case? You would not import them from europe. Just build euro spec cars here in Ohio or Indiana.

They are also mandatory in Canada, which doesn't make much sense to me considering they use everything else from the U.S. regulations.

Exactly! It's absolutely not necessary to import it from Swindon. We've been told for the longest time how flexible Honda's manufacturing plants are so why can't they build the 9th-gen European Civic hatchback here (Ohio or Indiana)? Additionally, it doesn't need to be a fully optioned European version to be sold here. Make it so it meets US govt crash standards and sell it here next to the current Civic lineup.
Everybody else sells a C-segment hatchback in the U.S. Where's Honda at? We need more choices here in the US market from the great Honda Motor Company. I sometimes get jealous of other markets Honda sells cars in because the choices they get are incredible! I've noticed too that hatchbacks are being sold here at a slightly higher price point than there sedan counterparts. That's works just fine...Honda can sell the Civic hatchback at a slightly higher price than the Civic sedan.
I am prepared to purchase a brand new Euro styled Civic hatchback today! Common American Honda, lets make it happen.
