Not putting miles on the car... after two weeks we're at 300 and we have not yet redlined.
I've come up to 6000 and seen the VTEC indicators light up (*) but with the torque of the 2.4 liter I don't think it's really needed. This baby gets up and goes way down.
From a line, I think 1st gear is superfluous unless you're in a real hurry. 2nd gear takes off nicely and has a good range of speeds.
I think I'll wait 'till we hit 500 miles before I take it to the redline. But, the way we're going, we decided to break in the TSX first since we're planning on taking _that_ car in family trip, so it may be a month before we get there.
(*) Honestly, I'd rather have a real temperature gauge in there....

They couldn't even give it two license plate lights. No temp gauge for you!

Really???
One more thing for me to check later this month when they launch here.
My car is one of the first that don't have temp gauge, I am one that I don't miss the temp gauge at all.

Tis true. It has one now, centered over the rear plate.
The lack of a coolant temperature gauge, replaced with "Cold" and "Hot" lights, is not really a huge concern to me. The traditional Honda coolant temperature gauge only has 3-4 readings anyway, IIRC, but losing the gauge can sort of be perceived as cheaping out, of flying blind, maybe, and like the loss of the also traditional Honda door chime (bee-bee-bee-beep ...aka four beeps... aka Morse Code for "H"), seems like a departure from the good ole days.

Mine still has that, and the car is 2010 model.... ole days? My oldest Honda doesn't have it. :)
And funny, I never knew it was morse code for 'H', because it sounds exactly like my alarm clock.
So.. sucks to be you guys in the US for super-cheapened cars?

Ole days, not dark ages. :p I kid.
It was around for Senna lapping around in the NSX-R, and before that. Glory days.
My alarm clock takes the Honda chime and makes it angry. WAKE UP WAKE UP :(

Likewise, my 2011 Si also has the old chime. The 2012 has one like the Acuras do now, IIRC.

Yeah it does that. In the morning it's WAKE UP WAKE UP!
Then I get in the car it iis START THE CAR! START THE CAR! Then when I reach work it's GET THE KEY OUT! GET THE KEY OUT!
Well at least it's effective, because with the old car I kept locking my keys in it... I just get out and lock the door and pull on the handle before closing the door. Then I see the key still in the ignition and realize that the key I took out was my house key.

It's quite loud in the 8th gen Civic, compared to the 3rd gen Integra, so I make a habit of not putting the key in the ignition until the door is closed and seatbelt is buckled.

I minimized the sound by covering the "speaker" with some crazy glue.

Woh! where is the speaker for the door chime? I just electric tape the door sensor so the car never knows the door is open.
The speaker sounds like a better fix to the annoying beeping.
I've also wanted to rig the seatbelt sensor so that it always thinks the seat belt is engaged to stop the secondary beeping.

thats a lot of effort, although I really like the credit card in the seat belt trick.
