Perhaps that was the very point of the test?? To observe stupidly loaded car's handling at stupid speeds?? Who knows.
To prove torsion beams are unpredictable under such conditions? Who can tell? It doesn't really matter what they were doing it for (even for fun) and it's just rather sad and unfortunate that something went tragically wrong.
