It's funny to hear that Europeans don't want manuals anymore. IIRC, one of the constant drumbeats by MT fans here on TOV is about European preference for MTs, and how much smarter they are because of it.

autoblog has an article on this... about BMW ///M division engineers basically annoyed that they're forced to make ///M5 manual for the U.S. market.
U.S. is still the largest market for ///M cars

if you have enough money to afford the 550i or the m5.. I highly doubt money and gas would be an option... some people just like the status of owning an "M5"

theres alot of people who can "ALMOST" afford it. Probably 10,000x more then the people that can afford it. So my comment is for them.
those ALMOST afforders buy the M5 used in 3-5yrs off lease.

In other news, Audi S6 and AMG beat the shit out of the new M5.

nobody really cares about those car's though... especially with no Manual option. Not sure if the A6 has manual but Audis are very flaming to actually own.

Why the hell not? new BMW sucks....the only true BMW left is E92 M3 until it goes out of production...
I will take the E63 with pp anytime over new M5 that uses radio for a fake sound....
And manual is the thing of past now, I am pretty sure that new 991 GT3 RS will have a PDK option....

I wouldn't buy an Audi scared im getting 90% VW parts. Even the bentley I changed the windshield on had a jetta shifter chrome thing. So Audis are nothing more then jellybeans with 1 line down the side made of vw parts. meh oh and fancy LEDs that scam pple like my friend into buy it. Also, Audi's are the most overpriced cars on earth. Read studies. Profit is highest on them. Wonder why? Maybe its the vw parts. Interesting VW cars the LEAST profitable cars on the planet. Soooo they use same shit to save money. Smart for any business.
OH...
and benz is only auto so I dont even think about them. At all. EVER. If its not an S550 then its not a benz and there is no point to own it. SIMPLE MATH.
e92 is epic but the all new F32 i believe should absolutely murder it.
I remember when E92's v8 was praised for being lighter then the i6...
now the new F32 i6 will be praised for being lighter then the old heavy dated v8 in the E92.
Should also rape the e92's lap times which even the BASE 5.0 stang can beat on the track and straight. Motortrend ftw.

All the more reason to appreciate Acura's awesome TL SH-AWD 6MT ... the only all-wheel drive luxury sedan with a manual in America.

Same here. Audi makes rather desirable cars but I simply don't trust the reliability enough to buy one in the near future.

My take away from that article is that the Mustang GT could hand with the M3 if the M3 didn't have performance tires on. Not that the Mustang GT could actually beat the M3, because it didn't. It came very, very close though.

And another one (and also losing a normally aspirated engine) ... The new Renaultsport Clio will have no manual gearbox option. It was previewed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed via a camouflaged production car climbing the famous hill; it was fitted with a six-speed twin-clutch transmission (with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters) which Renault has confirmed to evo will be the only transmission available.
It’s mated to a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/285616/new_renaultsport_clio_no_manual_gearbox.html
