I think Honda added a Sport trim in response to Toyota's very popular Camry SE. My cousin who works for Toyota Motor manufacturing here in Ky stated that they can't make enough SE's as demand for that trim is through the roof. They are actually working overtime during the week and on Saturdays to meet demands.
I'm hoping Honda really adds some Sport to the Accord as many have been asking for it. I also hope the Accord Sport is offered in both I4 and V6 configurations like the Camry. It just makes sense.
Accord Sport necessities:
- subtle body kit and/or more aggressive styling tweaks.
- stiffer suspension setup.
- available 6MT.
- sport seats with grippy fabric.
- sport steering wheel.
- a higher degree of tactile performance vs regular Accords.
- better brakes.
- larger, wider, more aggressively styled rim/tire package.
- modest price.
I know only the coupe will offer the V6/6MT combo but Honda should consider basically using existing chassis/suspension parts from the former 2007/08 TL Type-S. The LSD, suspension tuning of that car implemented onto the lighter Accord would be very interesting. It wouldn't cost Honda anything as the parts already exist!

The Sport will only be offered with an I4, but there will be a choice of either a CVT or 6MT. And considering its placement on the spec chart, I assume the Sport will cost less than an EX model, but slightly higher than the base LX.

Just noticed the CVT has a "sport" trim... hahah.
Honda seems confident!

I think alot of people on here are getting the wrong idea about this sport model, the differences will probably be cosmetic just to make it LOOK more sporty. The differences will probably be parallel to the differences we see in the Ridgeline Sport(which I like) :-)

Wheel, tire, interior, cosmetic. As far as I know, the engine is the same with maybe duel exhaust.......I asked about the rear 1/4 picture and source said "do you see an XM antenna?" so my guess from that answer is that car is an SE........

Expect the Sport to take the place of the lame looking LX-P. There are many who want the features of an EX without the sunroof. There are many who are satisfied with the features of a LX but want something with a little more........alot more excitement in the looks department. Hence the success of the Camry SE which my wife drives.
She is not a car nut,and only knows how to start it and drive. Yet, in her opinion it was not a contest between the Camry SE and the present Accord EX. The Camry SE looked sportier, and she liked that. So I am not surprised by the success of the SE. Its a handsome looking vehicle, especially in silver and dark tinted windows.
Many here blast Honda for not getting it. Along with their marketing data and reams of market research, the Honda Product Managers noticed that the majority of Camrys they see bumping around SoCal are SE's. Thus the Accord SE.......errrrrrrrrrr............Sport is born. Props to Honda for getting it.

Don't forget the Fit Sport! It's basically the base model with spoilers and better looking rims. It makes a big difference, though!

The current Camry SE has suspension and steering changes for a sportier feel. With that said Honda should sit still and just add a sportier appearance. Honda should do something similar. Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan and Ford all have sportier tunes.

Basically all the people associated to Honda F1 program were re-oriented to engineer better mass volume appliances.
| Honda CFO Fumihiko Ike recalled that dropping Formula One racing was a key move in developing the Earth Dreams powertrains: "Previously we allocated between 600 to 800 people for Formula One racing. All those people are now involved with regular r&d." |

So yeah, I expect Honda to at least sprinkle some sportiness... even down to something as mundane as CVTs!
