Will Honda move production of RLX from Japan?
There are talks that the RLX will be released as early as December this year. The question is: is Honda going to produce it in JP or move it to the U.S.? And if Honda move it to the U.S., which plant gets the job? Would it be Marysville? Or Lincoln?

Why would they move it? It is a very limited production car, and the dollar/yen problem really doesn't matter in this price class. Honda has more important uses for the North American factories.

Would it not make sense to produce the RLX in its largest market, namely North America?
Could you also explain how the dollar yen problem does not matter 'in this price class'? Shouldn't premium sedans carry a premium profit margin? If so, shouldn't Honda do all it can to maintain or grow this profit margin and build the car where it is cheaper to build relative to its biggets market? Or are you saying that it will generate so little profits it does not matter where it is made?

As good as the production quality has been from "HAM" Honda of America Manufacturing (better than I thought it would be), I think there is still some certain-appeal to Honda products that are still made in the "mother country".
I saw a recent posting at this site from someone in California saying that there is great pride by customers who have been able to snap-up the Japanese-made Hondas that still occasionally show up at California dealers.
With that in mind (you would think that this tendency would be even stronger in a flagship model) it would probably be wise to keep production of the RLX in Japan...especially with the low volume for this model.
The motorcycle division recently moved all Gold Wing production from Marysville back to Kumamoto, Japan. And there has been pretty good buzz and excitement in the GL community, anticipating higher quality on these 2012 models.

Well might be a good idea since it will be sharing so many parts with the American NSX made to just make both here

A recent article hinting at a possible answer:

Potenza and WingZ,
Yep, 2 good points. I had momemtarily forgotten about the announcement of the NSX II being made by HAM. If they aren't worried about HAM production hurting the image of the NSX, they sure won't be worried about it hurting the image of the RLX. With both models being low-volume (and sharing several parts) it would probably make sense to make them the same place.

HAM?
Is the NSX going to wait 4400 lbs and offer seating for eight?
I've been thinking of opening up a "split" restaurant down the road from the main HAM plant. It will have two seating rooms... Japanese and Southern. We'll deep fry the chicken and charge 5 dollars a serving for it in Southern Fried Chicken plate and 10 dollars a serving in the Karaage platter. Figure the cost of grits and rice is the same.
