...considering the 7,000rpm redline, make mine a 6spd coupe with the SI engine!

Not sure what that would do for you...the current 4 cylinder coupe is close to that engine output already.

Agreed. The new 6-speed manual paired with the 4cyl, in coupe. NICE car.

20hp isnt significant!? More like 30+ hp if you get a Hondata reflash plus another 400rpms... Again, I'll take mine with the SI drivetrain, LSD included.

The current Accord is 190HP, and the Si is 201. Not really 20HP. The engines are pretty much identical, except for a slight compression difference and being tuned to run on 87 octane (in the Accord). Any reflash of the Accord engine that currently exists would likely provide a similar increase to the Si engine.

Yeah, but a tuned Si starts to close in on S2000 power. :)
Again, I'll take a red coupe, with the Si drivetrain!

Dude you make no sense. Just get the damn V6 6sp Coupe if want power. The Accord is a heavier car than the Si and even if they swapped that motor in it would still be slow.
The new V6 will be 270hp+ and plenty of torque compared to a K24.

May I ask why you think the Si's K24 is some high performance variant? It isn't as it's virtually the same engine that's found in the TSX, Accord and CRV of course with some compression tweaks. In theory it isn't even a true high performance engine as although it's a DOHC design it only has VTEC on the intake valves. True DOHC VTEC high performance engines have always had intake/exhaust VTEC.
In terms of output, this engine couldnt begin to touch an F20/F22 in the S2000 in terms of HP. The K24 has the obvious advantage in torque production as it has more displacement and VTC. However the S2000 engines are completely different animals altogether.
I think we should wait and see what the EarthDreams engines have to offer before we draw conclusions. I really think this new generation of engines are going to be better all around especially in terms of power delivery and power under the curve. Peak power should be similar and leak torque should be around 10-15ftlbs more but as I said earlier, power under the curve should be better.
In terms of a "hot Accord" coupe, I'd actually like to see the 3.5 V6 from the former 07/08 TL Type-S along with its 6MT/LSD and its suspension tuning. It would cost Honda virtually nothing in development costs as the parts are ready there. That combination in a lighter Accord body would wipe the floor with other FWD V6 competition such as the Altima 3.5SR coupe, be more than aggressive enough for the enthusiast yet be refined/comfortable enough for everyday driving and long distance cruising.
