Aaah... note the speedometer "needle"... Note how it hinges on the perimeter of the dial instead of turning around a center fulcrum.

it's a similar idea to the TSX's, except that in this case it "bends" back over the surface whereas in the TSX the entire speedometer floats above the dash and the needle just extends towards the center.

It's interesting and it frees up dash real state for other indicators.

The CRV looks quite different from the TSX though. Perhaps the mounting of the needle is similar (driven off the edge) but it looks a lot plainer.

I must say that I was delighted with the TSX's dash from the very first time I turned the key on. Everyone in our family really likes it.

I don't know, I used to love the simplicy of Acura's gauges back in the 90s, sort of like a nice analog dress watch. But the TSX puts a ring on them turning them into a diver's watch.

That's the best I can describe it.

The Cross Tour was also very nice.

The similarity to the TSX was the first thing I noticed as well. In the upper dash and main gauges. It's definitely a really nice touch. The 09+ TSX has the nicest gauges of any Honda I've owned by far.

Couldn't disagree more. This trend of OEMs (mercedes was the first that really caught my eye as incredibly bad) using these floating gauge needles without a center hub is simply bad ergonomic design. I've harped on this before, but the reason a good needle/dial gauge works is that the eye always knows where to find one end of the needle (the center hub) which allows quick acquisition of the needle and subsequent identification of the readout value.

If you want to see the best Honda gauges ever, simply look to an NSX. Simple, clear, effective and provides every bit of info you need.

Unfortunately the center info screen is also taken from Acura's. Meaning blocky single color text (+ usual yellow probably). I can't imagine it's expensive to put better quality info screen in there. Just look at new Nissan Altima and pretty much any cheap smartphone nowadays.

Other than that looks good. I wonder why they covered the part in the middle which seems to connect the 2 clusters.

That's another one hint that the 9th gen Accord is probably going to be global (JDM/Euro Accord will be the same car as the North American version), because they've got elements carried-over from the 8th gen JDM/Euro-Accord (2nd gen TSX). I've noticed the similarity on the position of the vents also.

Look at the current TSX, and then the new Accord center stack...now squint your eyes.

Also, yes, the Accord has CR-V gauges, either exact or close. The TSX gauges aren't in the same universe of design.

Yeah, I was thinking CRV. I'm still not sure how I feel about the CRV's gauges. My first impression was that I'd much rather have the non-floating gauges and that it was a distracting design.

There's definitely a cool factor to the TSX speedo and rev counter - its a magical for a monent till you work out how it is done. The CRV speedo is not so nicely executed. Still Ok though. I dunno why we can't go the Dodge Dart, Jag XJ route and have it all TFT. And customizable too.
