I've wanted an NSX for many, many years. Some older NSX's, in good shape, are now about the cost of a new Accord V6 coupe. The Accord V6 coupe has grown in refinement and practicality, with many modern safety features, but does not hold anything special for me: it is modern, reliable car with a touch of sport but doesn't leave me day-dreaming like an NSX did, and somehow still does.
Would anyone else seriously consider a mid-engine V6 Accord coupe, if it cost the same $32,000 as the current mid-engine accord? 271 hp Honda V6, with 254 ft-lbs of torque, 3410 lbs curb weight.. Right, the curb weight.
I guess I'm trying to say it is still hard for me to justify buying a 15 year old NSX, with a reliable but 15 year old engine, versus a much more safe Accord with a brand new engine that develops similar power, when they both cost $32,000. And yet I still think of the NSX, almost every day somehow. Then I look that the engines are similar, the convenience and tire width are similar, the braking package is similar, and I think Honda would re-invent the affordable super-car market if they would just figure out how to get a 2013 accord Coupe to weigh less. It does not cost any more to put the engine in the middle than the front, so why not try to stir a few souls. A NSX-R for $32,000? $39,000? I'd buy one for me and one for my wife. Anyone else?

I think Honda should take the NSX2 chassis, remove the tech-oriented gizmos, and strip it to a bare minimum just to stick with road regulations. Soften the styling to be more Honda and less Acura, and call it something else. Replace expensive exotic materials with cheaper things and make the car as simple as possible, yet still focused.
Acura gets their high end sports car, Honda gets their budget sports car, and bean counters are happy because platform sharing.
Me? I'd settle for a V6/V8 FR HSV-010...
