Can the CBR 250R compete with the thrills I get from my 2011 Si? I'm thinking about a test ride.

NB I'm a big fan of F1 and noisy high RPM engines, my dream car being a production HSV-010 :)

NB2 I don't want a 1000CC motorbike, for now.

Hey. it really depends on what you are looking for in a bike.
I drove a 2006 Civic SI for 6 years. I gave up my Civic for a Mazda3Sport last year but I bought a CBR250R to compensate.
The bike is more than enough for commutes, fun on weekends and night time grocery runs.
I've ridden for years and I can tell you if you enjoy the sport of riding the bike is great. Highway onramps are a ton of fun to get rid of chicken strips, I think I take leans better on this 250 than the 599 I had years ago.
best of all, cheap insurance, cheap gas.
if you are more interested in straight line, the 250's not for you, passing at 130km/hr is also not ideal.

Yes, in fact more so. There's two reasons:

-The fact that you only have your legs for crumple zones and are completely exposed, you can hear everything from the wind to the engine, and you're on such a light machine with such direct control means that you handling and feel will surpass pretty much what you can get from any car

-You're more able to exploit the outer limits of the 250R's engine capabilities on a daily basis

The 250R also has the advantage of a comfortable ride position, fuel economy that will make you laugh at cars, and an engine that is very flexible. It's hard to mess up on this bike, particularly if you get the optional ABS.

I really don't get the point of tooling around a 1000cc bike on anywhere except for the track (and even my 600cc bike is cutting it close in that regard)... those bikes will always scream at you for being idiotically slow when you're scooting through city streets. They're too capable, if anything (I say that even though I'd really like an Aprilia RSV4... which isn't exactly a liter but...).

He speaks the truth. Just because it is a small displacement single-cylinder bike, doesn't mean it can't be lots of fun to ride. It seems like many of the older riders appreciate its merits more than the younger squids. I can rev the snot out of it (like my 2009 Civic Si Sedan) and feel like a racer, yet still retain my licence. Much harder to do that on a 600cc supersport.

I like to think of it as my small sport-touring mount. Fun for camping too. See link below.

I am in agreement with being able to rev a smaller engine while retaining one's drivers license!

This Classic 250 RC166 sounds amazing:

Any current Honda bikes sounding like that?!?

My local dealer says its their #1 seller. Claims it's one of the few models that commands MSRP - no haggling.
