Jeff, you're a hockey fan too? So, if your favourite band of all time is GnR, you are the only person I know that shares all three passions with me; Honda, Hockey, GnR.

It was good to see the Kings win.
Five years ago -or so- the Ducks won.
At work, we had a weekly conference with a vendor in Canada which happened to fall on the day following the Ducks win.
At the end of the conference, our vendor congratulated us on "teh win". The best I can say is that we had no idea why?
I blurted out that the Lakers had not won yet....
Then the canadians explained to us that the Ducks had won the night before over their Ottawa team.
Slowwwly a realization came over us that yes, the Ducks had won.
I don't know what hurt the Canadians more, the fact that their local Ottawa team had lost, or that it lost to a people who didn't care.
Yikes...

As an Ottawa fan still crying over that loss I can assure you what hurt us more is that Ottawa lost.
Honda + Hockey + GnR = count me in.

I skate Monday and Wednesday at the moment. The nice thing about living in Grand Rapids is the amount of ice rinks I have around me that are all up year round. All the way through the end of my college hockey career I was skating 6 days a week, and of course that has dropped now, but I haven't skated less than twice a week in many years (outside of the ACL reconstruction break I had).

I played when I was young but my skills never amounted to anything. My skating now is only done on the canal, except for the odd pickup game if we get free ice from a buddy of mine.
What teams are you guys fans of?
DCR, where did you play college hockey?

I played NCAA DIII in Cortland, New York for one year, and transferred to University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point for my last three.

Leafs fan. I'll be going to the Heritage Classic in Michegan Jan 1st, so, I'll probably see DCR there cheering the Redwings...LOL.

Hey DCR, Did you play with anyone in college that made it to the big dance?
RSX, what are your thoughts about Brian Burke, should he stay on or has his time run out?
I know that we haven't heard yet if Alfie will pay one more year or not but was there any final word on Lidstrom?

Burkie will be around for a while. He has done a fantastic job with the youth that he has brought in from almost nowhere. This was evident from the Calder Cup run of the Marlies. Lots of fans are upset that we didn't make the playoffs but with a couple key moves we'll be ready to make a Cup run, not just playoffs.

None of the players I skated with, nor myself, made it to the NHL. There have been many pro contracts, but outside of an NHL deal, pro means nothing...you can muck around for a few years and collect a terrible paycheck and dental bill if you want, but it is best to just hang em up and retire into the beer leagues if you don't have a legit shot.
I have skated with Mike Knuble, Dan Bylsma (when he was in Anaheim), and dozens of under-NHL pros for the last 10 years here. I just finished a tourny with a team of University of Michigan and Ferris State players last weekend in fact...good buddies to have on your side, as we won it all.
