Now this ain't big news, but in the last information meeting for shareholders Honda said the RLX would launch this fiscal year (meaning Apri12-Mar13). The truth is up to now they had said "early 2013" so for most people that may have been good enough for "before April", but anyway, just pointing it out as Honda became a bit more precise.
You can find other interesting bits on the presentation, which is a good summary of both the current status of the company and its immediate plans for the foreseeable future (link).
A few noticeable points (not real news, but this things get often argued in the forum):
- Honda aims for record automobile sales this year.
- N-Box minicar sales in Japan hit number1 spot in April, a feature Honda had long not achieved.
- Acura is still listing TSX & ZDX on a pyramid figure, where they say the whole line-up will be refreshed within 24months. What does it mean for the RDX it remains to be seen, but that pyramid would lose its shape if the ZDX wasn't there...
- Accord hybrid coming next year (2013).
- CrossTour demand seems amazing in China, 8000 units ordered in just one month??? (maybe I didn't read that one properly...)

Is the Crosstour built in other countries, or are all exported from the USA?

On page 19, for ED tech, for 2013 and beyond it looks like there will be a 1.8-2.0 DI engine...for some reason I thought we weren't getting a 2.0 DI...
Also liked the way they put next gen IMA under one umbrella (page 20):
one motor (small) - presumably Fit/Jazz-ILX
two motor (mid to large sized) - Accord-Odyssey?
three motor (sports hybrid) - RLX-NSX...
When it all gets implemented (and implemented correctly), it will be a good distinguisher of size and segment (economy to sport luxury) for Honda and Acura - something the company desperately needs...(although the ILX should somehow line up with other Acura 'sport' hybrids imho)
Oh yea, and look at all the pretty and slick graphics!!!!! Looks like their work is done ;-)

Seems to me that the each engine represents the type of engine, not the size. That means the 1.8 can be increase to 2.0, 2.2 in the future.. the 1.5 can be 1.6... etc. etc. Just a thought.

You read correctly. That's the Crosstour number for China they quoted!
What I think is interesting is that there will be a plug-in Accord hybrid introduced this year, AND a standard Accord hybrid (no plug-in) to be introduced next year. Are we in North America going to get both models?

So it's now 'officially confirmed' that the '13 Civic (9th gen North American 1st MMC) won't get the Earth Dreams engine. Just wonder when will the Civic get the ED engine, the 2nd MMC (2015)? That means Fit will most likely get the ED earlier.

Thanks for the link! Interesting reading!
I am super curious if the 2.4L ED will be as fuel efficient as the turbo-small-displacements from the EU manufacturers. If it is I am sure it will be a sure hit! Go Honda go!

The only place I know that builds the Crosstour is the East Liberty, Ohio plant. So I assume the Russian and Chinese versions are exported.

Has the CR-V always had a diesel engine? Sorry I'm so ill-informed. This is good news for me should it be sold in Canada.

In Europe CR-V got 2.2 diesel since around 2004, Civic&Accord had diesel option since late 90s (first a rover 2.0, then 1.7 from Isuzu with Honda electronics)

[Edited to prevent misleading people with my previously wrong statement.]
See Dr. Whinner post down the thread; the Chinese CT is made in China (link to Ito's Beijing 2010 speech)

Yeah, I see that as an R16-R18-R20 thing... the engine they presented first to the press in Japan past year was a 1.8L, which I'd guess it's the first that will come through the pipe, and should debut in the Civic's MMC or FMC, as usual. Then I wouldn't be surprised if a 2.0L (not talking about the already announced drivetrain for the Plug-in-hybrid) made it's way a year later or so, just like the R20 did.
That engine will be needed for JP's minivans and similar cars now powered by the R20, may find its way down to the ILX (again, about 1y or so after the Civic).

As I said, most of this stuff wasn't actual "news", but based on many forum discussions I can tell it had not reached the masses...
I'm not sure if there was official comment on the US, but otherwise I'm 99.9% sure that model is heading to the US, which will be its main market (like all hybrid sedans before). I would bet as well on the powertrain making it to Japan, but not necesarily in the same US Accord Sedan form. We recently had some speculation in the forum based on a previously released information meeting (March); as I said, also on TOV.

According to CEO Ito keynote speech in Beijing Auto 2010:The Crosstour will be produced by Guangqi Honda with sales to begin by the end of this year.
A few points I noted:
- "Start-up of Yori Plant" [this, according to Honda, IIRC, would be the 'best-practice' [my words] plant for "next-generation manufacturing technologies related to the production of environmentally-responsible products and low CO2 emissions production" and "will be responsible for evolving such technologies to other Honda production operations around the world"];
- New 3.5L DI for RLX; [this, as Daniel noted in another thread, dashed my hope of seeing the DI V6 first in '13 Accord]
- BEV "prepare for production in China".
- N-Box rec'd 100k orders in 5 mths, best selling kei car for two mths (Apr. and May, IIRC); more to come this summer and fall; read report that Suzuki felt pressured [Suzuki has been relying on this as its cash cow for somtime I guess]; remember who said that Honda's N-Box fails because it can't match the F.E. of specialized eco models of Daihatsu and Suzuki? Such a joke!
For when will the N. Am. Civic get ED engine, I would say sometime btn fall 2013 to 2014. And I would hope the ILX at least gets the upgrade no later than the Civic. Otherwise, imagine the uproar here, haha...

Oh, [1] regarding the N-Box, I think it is worth to note that, from my estimation, unlike most other vehicles that see sharp drop off quite soon, the sales orders of this vehicle seem to go very strong after its debut, and its sales is increasing [possibly because the rpoduction finally catches up]
Apr. 17k
May 19k
It is now ranked #3 in year-to-date sales with 80,751 sales, just 703 units below the Suzuki Wagon R, the perennial king!
[2] Time to re-read what AHM said about the '13 Accord:
- The 2013 Accord will feature three all-new powertrains, including the first U.S. application of both a 2.4-liter direct-injected engine and two-motor plug-in hybrid system from Honda's suite of next-generation Earth Dreams™ powertrain technologies. In addition, the V-6 Accord will be the first Honda sedan to feature a new 6-speed automatic transmission.
- The Accord will offer three all-new powertrains for the 2013 model year. The Accord Sedan and Accord Coupe will be the first models in the U.S. to receive the new Earth Dreams 2.4-liter, 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC® four-cylinder engine featuring direct- injection (DI).
- The 2013 Accord Sedan and Accord Coupe will also be offered with a re-engineered 3.5-liter, 24-valve, SOHC, i-VTEC V-6 engine ...
:(
[3] If Honda is going to renew its range of auto engines within three years, then the DI V6 for non-Acura models would probably come no later than spring 2015.

Hey, thanks for noticing !!
I had completely forgotten that quote; guess only Acuras are imported in China form the US then, which in a way makes sense because the Chinese already produce their own Accords and the CT might not be such a high margin vehicle.
That also explains in part the rather surprising sales numbers.

On page 5 of the link, is that the facelifted Civic? with the Accord Jazz and CRV. It doesn't look like the current Civic.

Sorry for the off topic comment.
I've been seeing many more Crosstours on the street lately. I wonder what has changed. Is there more incentives? Or is there more awareness of how good the car is beyond the styling we often talk here. Just courious...

| Asahi... Notable interior work: Honda S2000, 7th-generation Honda Accord |
This bodes well. IMO the 7th gen Accord was one of the nicest interiors in recent memory, except maybe the CR-V. The 7th gen interior had clean lines, great ergonomics, and lots of useful storage. If Asahi can infuse the same traits into future vehicles, this will be a very good thing.

Sure sounds that way from the looks of slide 19. Dissapointing, was really hoping the Civic would get ED for this first update.

Is Honda front loading the product intros? Think about it.
Next year there is a new RL in the spring, and a new MDX and TL debuting most likely in the fall. While its good to overhaul an aging product line in 24 months, what happens after that? Acura will need some new product launches after next year to keep the product line in the news and traffic for the showroom floor.

Well the following year the NSX will be launched and then I am sure that the ILX and RDX will be due for a refresh. It's also known that the TSX and TL will become the "TLX" and if anything, the TSX may become a coupe itself. Also it will be nice to see if Acura can build a convertible version of that coupe which is more affordable than say the NSX. I have no idea what's going to happen to the ZDX but for what it's worth, Acura might refresh it once and then kill it off at the end of its life cycle!

Been saying a while that there would be no ED for the Civic this year. As regards the TSX' future - got very clear this is the end for the TSX body language from Acura people at last month's ILX/RDX event. Even that pyramid could be interpreted as a TL/TSX merger at FMC.
