Any thoughts?

I sat in a Prius V and with a little strategizing, I think there is enough cargo room for a family road trip.

It's not going to wow me in terms of driving dynamics, but then I haven't read anything that says a CR-V does either. Seems the CR-V is adequate or barely good enough for testers.

I doubt you can find any vehicle will LESS driver feedback, or fun than that Prius V.

Jimmy, I commuted with someone who bought a 09 Prius so he could use the HOV lanes in Northern VA. The owner hated it so much, he forced us, his would-be passengers, to drive it. Setting aside the fact that everything you see and touch in a Prius seems incredibly cheap and flimsy, it's simply a terrible automobile for anyone who gives a **** about driving.

My advice: Drive the two of them. IMHO, you will discover a world of difference between the driving dynamics of a Prius and any CR-V. At that point, you'll come to think of the quality of materials in the Honda as a freebee.

The Prius will murder the CR-V in MPG, without doubt. Power wise, my 2012 CR-V feels like a Mustang compared to my Civic Hybrid, so if you do not care about planning your merges, the Prius wins hands down if gas-sipping is your main priority.

'12 CRV is an improvement on the '11. Smoother.

Now, we put some long trips up and down the West Coast and the Sierra Nevadas in the CRV... Summer (hot), Winter (cold), Spring (beautiful)... with reasonable cargo for four, a heavy load with two of us, and so on....

The CRV had plenty of passing power on the two lane roads in Northern California and good mileage otherwise ( my daughter averaged 33 mpg in the middle of Oregon on the I5).

Our '11 was an EX-L with AWD and roof rails...

I won't say the CRV was as comfortable on the I5 as the Odyssey but it does not feel like a log either. It actually feels fine on corners, just remember that you have those high profile tires.

Prius? One of the things you find out with hybrids (we have an 06 HCH) is that as soon as you load them, the power to weight ratio really goes down and they get sloooooow....

I would not take a family trip with a ton of vacation stuff in the car in a hybrid. Unless it were one of those V6 ones...

Also, check the rubber on those hybrids. The OEM that seem to come in some of them simply suck. Follow the threads in TOV's hybrid forums for what are good tires and what are not...
