Does anyone have a good opinion of the Civic HF?

What does it lack that the EX offers?

Consumer Reports says it got 49 hwy with it. I wonder if Honda is underrating the mpg to leave room for the hybrid. Probably not though.

here you go! It's mostly minor things as the HF is just an LX with enhancements to get better fuel economy! The EX basically offers bluetooth, moonroof, rear disc brakes, fold-down second row center armrest, exterior temperature gauge, and 6 speakers as opposed to 4 for the other two.

Consumer Reports does get good highway mileage with the HF,
but you are required to pay $800 more. (than LX?)

With fuel savings of $135/yr... thats a 6-year payback period.
so not really saving much money.

You can find a Civic HF?

What are the mpg used by CR for the HF and LX payback calculation?

When the new Civic debuted, some ToVers hashed out all the details here:

One big thing to remember: you do get alloy wheels and a trunk spoiler in the HF vs. a base LX too.

I forgot lower ride height too ~ for those wheel gap aficionados. So alloys, rear deck spoiler, underbody aero, lower ride height PLUS the 5% better economy for $800? Not a bad deal at all, really.

That depends on how much someone drives. I would probably get my money's worth in a year or less. Also, with gas prices continuing to rise....

I guess it's good for some people who aren't good drivers, but I can get great fuel economy for the $800 cheaper LX. Watching the road ahead for upcoming stops, tapping the pedal just enough to get going, using cruise control, not using the A/C at all, etc.

But you could get better fuel economy by doing those same things in an HF. Good or bad driving has nothing to do with aerodynamics and low-rolling-resistance tires.

And as an aside, cruise control is worse for fuel economy than good throttle control, if we're getting particular.
