I am SHOCKED nobody hasn't mentioned the rims? I wonder if those will be the production ones...........Usually Honda's hybrid rims are aerodynamically designed for maximum air flow, those rims do not look that way.

I don't believe those are production rims. They're quite small, although acceptable for a hybrid. However, the actual rim structure looks so bare with only 5 small spokes, I doubt this could be the real deal. Or at least I hope not. They also put the brakes practically out in the open and leave the hub so exposed. Those wheels would be a big let down with the rest of the car looking so good...

You are right, it is a strange move for Honda. It's almost like they're emphasizing it too, going from so small and aerodynamic to so large and thin-spoked. As if the powertrain is so advanced that they no longer need to rely on these little tricks.
That said, I'm guessing these wheels will be forged alloy for lightness and strength.

Those are for sure not production but, Andrew, the times of the original Insight and Civic Hybrids are long behind, and I really can't see how my CR-Z wheels are so "extremely aerodynamically designed", they are simply good looking and damn light.
Just don't forget that you are not looking at a 100Hp Civic, but a mid-high 200Hp class vehicle (nearly 300Hp if the electric&gasoline motors add together)... I don't know what wheels it will have in the dealer lots, but I'd sure bet on "light and good looking" vs. "flat-designed-extra-aero-efficient" ones.

That should be the way. One of the first thing my friend did to his HCH is to change the wheels, lol. Since it's mostly city driving I doubt there is much dfiference from the change. BTW, how light at the CRZ rims? Or the Insight for that matter.
As for the pic.. it could be these guys are testing road noise and choosing tires and those are just tires put onto some cheap rims in a hurry to swap quickly. Someone else on here had this theory too, can't find the thread.

O only mean the Civic and the 1st gen Insight when I talk about the wheels.......Sorry for that mistake......

Hasn't almost every mule we have seen had it's production wheels on it? I am just saying.........

Yes, but those really don't look production at all. By the way, we've only seen 2 mules of the Accord so far right? Also, the 2014 MDX was spotted wearing 3rd gen TL type S wheels, and I'm doubting those will be on the production car. Maybe that breaks the stigma?

Rims are one of the easiest features to change at the last minute. Engineers can simply use any suitable sized rim from their collection for proving purposes.

These look aftermarket and fairly light weight.
Light weight would be great for a fuel miser, but usually Honda's hyper-mileage cars come with flat pans to decrease drag rather than weight.
I'd say they are not production, but I really wish they were!
