Right rear plug in would be perfect for my garage. I could add a 220 plug right next to the fuse box and be right near the plug in door. Now the plug needs to go all the way around the back of the car.
Actually, would be my wifes car to replace a 2003 Accord, but she wants a smaller car, so the 2013 Accord is too big.

The location makes me wonder about where the batteries are. I would think they are in the trunk, so the clever design would be like a 1970s Chevy that had the fuel cap hidden behind the license plate. That was really cool.

easy solution: back it into your garage. the car will have a backup camera, it will be a breeze to back it in.

My wife wants to replace her 2004 Civic coupe with a Fiat 500. They don't get much smaller.

Reason is the wiring comes from the front to the rear, away from any fuel/tank delivery system on the opposite side of the car. If it was in the back on the passenger side, you would also have a difficult time at PUBLIC charging stations for those are all designed for front plugs and it would be more difficult to recharge them. Ever Manufacture has them in the front......

Yes. Also, the location makes it almost impossible to overlook the connected wire when you enter the car.

Connecting and disconnecting is something most owners will do at least twice a day. Convenience is important for this task.

You can't compare 1970's technology to 2012.

Second, electrical outlet does not need to be near gasoline fumes and possible static electricity.

As Jeff said, "back that thing up!"

I wonder if for the right hand drive the plugin will be on the right hand side then?
