I'm in the Seattle area! I don't post much at all, but I do read up everyday. Been a fan of this site for since it was first started many years ago. I even remember the old layout w/ the rumors page that had the "Acura Integra Type R coming to America" and the "Honda SSM" concept as well, and countless other news and info.

Not from Seattle but visited many times. Seattle is a beautiful city with plenty of views of the sea and mountains. Common misconception is that it rains all the time. Not true. It is just cloudy.

It's actually lots of drizzle, not rain. Death by a thousand cloudy days.
Back in the 70s, when few cars had built in delays for their wipers, people in the Puget Sound were known to install one of those aftermarket gadgets in their cars ASAP.
I know, I installed that on my 77 CVCC before the stereo.. priorities, you know?

I'm from Vancouver, WA. We're a suburb of Portland, OR (about 150 miles south of Seattle).

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the lack of response. I am now sitting in Seattle Tacoma airport, waiting for my flight home. Am here for a holiday, taking a cruise up to Alaska. There was free wifi at the hotel I was putting up for the night before boarding the cruise ship but right after I posted, my wife said she wanted to go to Pike Place market. Didn't have time to post after that and in the cruise ship, internet access was very expensive so I just lost touch of the internet for the last 7 days. Was nice seeing many Hondas around Seattle and Victoria and was surprised to see some even in the remote towns in Alaska.

I spent five year of my childhood in Seattle (many decades ago!). I remember June, July, and August were pretty nice, but the rest of the year was cloudy with lots of drizzle and light rain. My dad bought an old used Chrysler back then, and he complained that he couldn't get the windshield clean. A friend explained to him that it was a common problem in Seattle. The windshield wipers just wore the glass surface so it was rough, and no longer transparent. The only solution was to replace the glass. I understand that modern glass and gentler rubber has eliminated this problem.
You mention Victoria, which is less than 90 miles from Seattle as the seagull flies. An amazing Olympic Mountain weather phenomenon call the "rain shadow" gives Victoria over 300 sunny days per year. It's a beautiful city with fantastic weather.

I'm in the Seattle metro area. Not a perfect place, but good enough for me to live here for the last 15 years.
Lots of Honda and Acura in the area for sure. I don't know the local Honda tuner shops though.
I'm also a member of the Puget Sound Chapter of BMWCCA, which is quite active. Just wish I had more time to hang out with the regulars.

While I now live in San Francisco I spent 10 years living in the pacific northwest (Seattle WA and Vancouver, Canada).

Driving up the I5 you know you're getting into the Puget Sound area when you see the Expresso Signs by the freeway. ;-)
I believe they start around Centralia..l but the widespread availability of on the go expresso doesn't start until Olympia.
South of that it's mostly drip coffee... although there's a Starbucks right at the southern end of the Woodburn Outlet Mall... It just off the freeway so if for some reason you need good coffee on the I5 south of Portland and you don't want to waste time off the road (as in those long drives up to Seattle) that's quick stop. However, come to think about it, I would avoid it around Christmas and weekends, as there's usually a long line of shoppers on that exit.

Owning two coffeehouses in Vancouver, WA (a suburb of Portland, OR) I'll take a bit a liberty to give you some insider info on I-5 and good coffee ;)
First, I should say it's eSpresso - no 'X'.
Second, there's really awesome coffee in Portland, OR - widely considered now the mecca of coffee nationally and perhaps worldwide. If you don't want to venture into Portand (and all there great cafes) and are on I-5 seeking quick off exit/on exit run, you should hit Lava Java at the Ridgefield, WA exit (exit 14). They have an former national champion barista (Phuong Tran) and serve Stumptown Coffee - which is the BEST.

Yes, you are right... on the drive up I don't want to spend too much time anywhere. Only real stops allowed are overnight motels at South Weed/ Central Redding and Casey's Restaurant in Roseburg. Both with very easy access to gas and the I5.
PS: I noticed you call it "I5"... whereas down here we call it "the I5". For us, freeway|highway names are proper nouns. Interesting.

Yeah, my brother-in-law from Orange County calls it 'THE I-5' as well. Definitely different takes on it.
