I think the ILX, still being based on the Civic and posed as a "gateway" into Acura especially, should have Honda qualities. Those are good qualities. Just add in the more premium content. Sporting content can be premium content, too.

You see, that is the problem. By then they might as well put a Honda badge on it and sell it eslwhere as a Honda. |
Most Acuras for sale today follow the same principles. They're based on Hondas, then premium content is added. That includes different tuning of the suspension. The engines are tuned for more power, at least to recommend/require premium gas.
That thing you said about heads exploding, I'm feeling that way the more I think about it, too.

But it's actually the other way round now. The old Acura is based on Hondas that are rebardge as Acura. The new Acura is build from ground up to be Acura, but can be something that Honda actually do and sold as elsewhere as Honda. If they build it as an Acura, and which is actually can be a Honda, and then they don't sell elsewhere as a Honda, they are really severly limiting themselves in sales, from worldwide point of view. Maybe they are expecting sale a bazillion of them China..., but it still suffer from a 'Hondacura' problem. Unless of course, they are planning to move Acura brand selling it globally soon and dumb down Honda.
My head is still on my body. I thin kwhat I wrote above will probably explode someone's brain.

I think the ILX, as spec'd out today, is ready for sale as an Acura in China, Mexico, Russia - the markets Acura exists. It's a Honda-based Acura, bodied as an Acura. At the same time, just as the European Accord came to the US as the Acura TSX for MY2004, with minor changes such as a different dashboard and a larger engine (was the 2.4 available in it outside North America? Can't remember), I think the reverse is possible with the ILX: sold in Europe as a Honda. I haven't read anything about that happening, but would I be wrong to think it would work about as well as the European Accord over there, just in the segment beneath? 'About as well'... I just remembered Honda has about a 1% market share there.
I'm about to pack my own head with explosives.

We are all anxiously waiting for Honda to bring out some great new products we can constructively discuss.
Did you get some good grades for your Junior year?

Made the Dean's List and had my best year in school. Now, time for two jobs this summer then doing it all again.

The Integra is dead. Bitching about it or other products long gone doesn't make them available to buy at a dealership new. Sorry, it just doesn't. If Honda has nothing to a persons liking, they are free to move elsewhere.
I was finishing my last semester of my junior year of college. I haven't been on ANY site posting about anything. I was busy and school was my focus. The LAST thing on my mind was jumping on here to discuss Honda with a group of people that do more whining than actual constructive product discussion.
Lastly, I'll post in whichever way I feel. This is an open internet forum. No asses needed to be kissed to sign up, nor to post about topics presented. Don't like it, don't read it.
That being said, hope the ILX sales well and brings in money for Acura for those who do like it and buy it. Everything ain't for everybody. Different strokes for different folks....

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I apologize. But there is plenty of constructive product discussion, if Honda/Acura uses it in a constructive manner. I'm not going to sugar coat the things I feel they're getting wrong. Being that open forum, you're going to see complaints. If I got you wrong, again, I apologize for that.
As for the Teg, every day it's not in production is a mistake. ;)

No need to apologize. All is in the past. It's a new day and a beautiful day here at that, it being 89 degrees and very sunny with no clouds at all. Let's all enjoy the fact that the ILX is on sale and can hopefully bring in some sales, if not just bring in people to Acura showrooms to buy SOMETHING at least. Lord knows Acura can use all the sales they can get. And let's pray that moving forward, things improve at Honda/Acura and not be half assed.
