The order for a '12 Civic Si NAVI sedan in metal metallic was accepted. We didn't have to order many options because it's pretty loaded. Just the usual all weather mat, trunk liner, net and hooks.

Hopefully we'll get it pretty soon.

We were initially considering an EX with NAVI but it came only with AT5.... so when I checked the insurance I was surprised that the SI was only a little bit more... so then it was a no brainer.

I was hoping the get the NAVI _and_ the summer tires but you can't. AHM really is doing a mess with the order sheet.

Anyway... I have this nagging feeling that my wife is going to hide all the keys in her purse. :-P

Just got a VIN number... so its for sure now.

Car was born in Canada, 4/27/12. So it's a Canuck.

I think the only mods will be some NHL stickers for the Ducks of Anaheim... who play at the Honda Pond....

Maybe we'll call him McKenzie.

"Hey, like I'm taking McKenzie to get some brewskeys.. Like, what kind do you want, eh?"

I am pretty sure all of the Si's are Canucks...

Nice choice! I have seen a few '12 Si sedans in person now and I must say that I highly prefer the sedan version of the Si over the coupe version, which was the complete opposite in my opinion for the '06-'11 model.

You can tell by the VIN code, as well as the window sticker. The Si's are all built in Alliston, Ontario Canada.

VIN numbers that start with 1 are US... 2 Canadian... J for Japan and so on...

Hondas are 1H..., 2H...., JH...., our EP-3 was an SH...

http://www.vehicleidentificationnumber.com/vehicle_identification_numbers_vin_detail.html

Supposedly, the US can also use 4... but I've never seen a 4H before... maybe GM and Ford needed those extra numbers.

Well.. here's the deal... her car pool buddy is quitting and she'd rather drive than car pool.

So, since the lease mileage allowance on the TSX is greater than the Civic... and as my current commute is insanely short (I really should be riding a bicycle to work) she will have to trade the Si with me often and drive the TSX so as to split the miles with both cars.

So, yep, I'll get the Si often. :-)

But likely won't drive it long enough to enjoy it. :-P

Hello Tony, I'm genuiney curious here. What benefits is there with a one or two year lease? Does it not spoil the fun to know that both cars will be returned relatively quick, making the reliability of the cars pretty much a "who cares".

In my case, I've been enjoying my Si for 6 years now, and it's a pleasure to enjoy the true benefits of owning a Honda, including reliability, and the fun to drive factor that just doesn't change over the years. With a lease, I would hardly have a clue what the car is really all about, and I feel that you dont have time to convert the money you would pay into the benefits and value the net dollar amount should be returning to you.

I hope to learn something about your reasons for leasing so much, I don't see the financial or other tangible benefits of it.

Thanks

not necessarily speaking for Tony - but for the same monthly outlay wouldn't most people prefer a 2 year lease to a four year? Or maybe one just likes to drive new cars - and if a 2 year lease is affordable then why not. I usually get bored with cars after a few years. I am on my 22nd I think, in less than 40 years driving., though i have had as many as 3 at one time.

We have one customer who buys a new or used car every 6 weeks to 2 months from us. I would say he's nuts, but it's a free country!

Employee leases are now for one year, and there can be two at a time. As these are subsidized by the company, the cost is very low. Indeed, my wife will be charged a big chunk of imputed income (thanks -not- IRS....)

The end result of a one year lease, and two at at a time, is that we get to drive LOTS of new cars.

We can always buy the car at the end of the lease.
