This is from the UK/Euro Version. I can only dream, but really this is how our interior should be. It would be on par/exceeding the quality of the competitors.

Totally agreed. I would really like it if Honda brought the Euro Civic to the U.S.

I've noticed that some countries just seem to prefer smaller cars. I guess hatches sell better in those areas because they can get a relatively small package on the outside and still have decent cargo space to carry larger items.

For a long time the American way of thinking has been "bigger is better" so I think that people who need extra cargo space in the US go for SUVs/CUVs over hatches and wagons. Another thing is that some hatchbacks are styled more like station wagons, and for a long time wagons weren't considered the coolest car to be seen in... at least in my area.

Personally, I've never been a big fan of hatches or wagons, even as a very young kid but there are a few hatches that look ok to me. The overall shape of wagons have always reminded me of hearses (no offense to wagon lovers, it's just my personal opinion.) If I was forced to buy a wagon it would be a TSX, Volvo V60, or 3 series. Reliability is important to me so the TSX would most likely get my vote. Oh, I liked the red one that Neal did a while back too.

I like this interior, with a couple notes: it would be nice to have more than 1 tone of black; and I dislike the instruments sunk into individual cans. Otherwise a cleaner design than the US Civic, or the Fit its based upon.

I agree with you about the individual cans for the gauges, not a fan. I like how the gauge cluster is on the current NA/US Civic, except I wish the top tier didn't have those tacky looking color pieces on each side of the speedo, they did it better in the UK interior. I am a big fan of the two tier design with the speedo on top. As far as them bringing the UK hatch to the US I'm not a fan of the UK rear exterior design, not sure a lot of other people would go for it, although I really wish they would come up with a civic hatch for NA/US. I think if they could transplant this interior into the NA/US civic with maybe a few tweaks, like changing the gauge clusters. I would buy it in a heartbeat. Well, I would wait for the EDT also. Hoping that they will bump the SI output to 220 hp. That's a whole different discussion though.

Here's a better image of the gauge cluster from the UK/Euro Civic vs NA/US CIVIC

Their standard stereo console looks cleaners than ours also.

And I really think it's about time they give us better A/C controls with auto A/C like in the Hybrid, at least offer dual zone A/C as an option and put some rear A/C vents like VW

They also really should make 6spd manuals standard across all Civics and Fits to improve FE numbers for their manual cars.

Automatic climate control should be standard on EX-L models. I don't care much about dual-zone, however.

Here is the automatic climate control in the Civic Hybrid:

But the regular EX-L has boring old one that can be found in a DX:

I think I can blame OCD on this, but there are certain things that drive me crazy about interior design and symmetry. When I look at the euro interior, my eye stops instantly at that navi unit and the center vents. Just center the thing...make it work. Design bits like that just scream "after thought" to me, or simply just poor design planning. That huge vent on the far right sticking up also bugs me, but it is alone there and doesn't seem to break the design as much.

One thing I like about cascading consoles on a few vehicles is that it sits the shifter a little higher and closer to the wheel without that super long shifer look. And when in gear slightly angle towards the driver. The US Civic probably only has a difference of 4 to 6in, compared to others but it matters.

The Euro Civic would probably feel better to drive in, but would be panned here because of the lack of front storage. I honestly thought it would be hard to get use to not having that large front bin that the Civic provides. But I've managed by just carrying less junk that didn't need to be in a car anyways and use the door pockets that I've rarely used in the past more often.

Yes the instruments in CANS is just plain stupid. They say it is to cut glare, but I never had a problem with my 89 Accord dash which is really very nice and I still have car. Hate the CANS in my Acura TL. What a waste of materials. They should talk to Apple.
