Oh, it's in there, can't you tell by the reflection from the back window and the shadow off the rear bumper that the exhaust pipe is 1 mm larger in diameter..............The car looks to be at least an 1/8 of an inch lower, the steering wheel is a tad smaller and the rear seat has 1/32 more of head room...........I can tell all of this from the rear window.............LOL!
This is how I feel sometimes when I read peoples posts when we get these pictures.......Not you guys, but some people take the smallest detail and turn it into this HUGE thing.........

There's no point in "testing" the car if there was no significant change/improvement on the powertrain. By that picture alone, we can always hope something new coming to the 2013 Civic's engine & transmission. Much probably ED engine (hope!), but it could be just the new CVT and/or 6-speed manual paired with the old R18.

I won't bet on getting the ED engine, yet.
Quite unprecedented to launch two diff. (major) series of engine within such a short order.

What two different engines? The V6 and the 2.4 or the new 1.8 or the 1.6l diesel or the new hybrid power train?

Doesn't Honda want to roll out ED as soon as they're available? Once the Accord debuts with it, the rest of the lineup will follow.
If this '13 Civic comes after the Accord's debut, who knows, Honda might be thinking, "Hey, let's might as well stick the new engines in since we'll be making changes anyway."
Though I doubt this will happen, since this will probably kill the value of existing 9th gens on the road..

I agree with you. If Honda is placing ED powertrains into the 2013 Civic, I especially feel bad for those people who were "tricked" by their dealer to buy a 2012 Civic. Considering the new engines and possibly CVT are supposed to have awesome fuel economy and performance, those people are going to be pissed.

While I agree with your overall sentiment I don't think it's fair to say the dealer "tricked" them in buying a Civic. People have to walk into the dealership on their own merit.
Not to mention that there was no way the dealers knew Honda was going to have save face and alter it right after releasing the car...

It's sort of iPhone syndrom? You wait 6 months there is a new one. New one always is faster and better. Buy now? Wait 6 month? What about another 6 months?
It used to be PCs ... ,TVs, walkmans, etc. Every 6 months there were new PCs coming out. It always was fast and better. 5 mhz clock speed. 15 mhz. 20 mhz. 25 mhz......
Now nobody talks about new PCs are faster anymore, like new Hondas are no fster than old. Heck, it's all about tablets and pads now.
Is it better? Who told you ED+CVT is better? It would do better MPG. Will you like it better, though?
Some like MP3s, some prefer CDs and some say CD is not good enough. Are they tricked with PM3? CD players or be tricked to buy up to DVD player? Some like 8th Si, some like 9th and some like both because they're two different flavors.
Poeple who bought Hyundais and Toyotas were tricked? Yes, I certainly say so.
But better is always better, isn't it? Is it?
Do you know what you want? Do you know what you need? Do you want this and that because ....???
Did anybody tricke you to like what you like or you like what you like because you like it? Are you tricked by yourself? Is this the reason why people always want something they can't get? Is it safe to want it and like it because you can't get it? Why don't they make something like that which I can't get it? Because once I get it there always is something better out there?
You only can buy what's out there now. Do you know what you want, what you like?

Dude..........I can tell you how fast you will get on my bad side...........95% of dealers don't even know WTF ED is unless they think it's Erectile Dysfunction...........and most don't even know what the change will be. Only a FEW of us know what the change is..........KEEP GUESSING!

I understand your point, but it is assuming the ED engine that the Civic would use is ready and available at the same time as the Accord's. Honda could also be planning the ED engine for the Civic's official MMC too.

Actually I was thinking the 2.4 and 1.8.
I always think the 2.4 and V6 in Accord is a foregone conclusion.

Look, I am going to say it AGAIN........NOBODY is tricking anyone because 99% of sales people DON'T KNOW what is going to happen in 2013 and those who do are not going to say because it would be a violation of a given word. Am I telling certain customers to wait for the 2013 Accord, but others, I am going to sell them the 12. I had a 77 tear old guy in here today, wanted to know about the 2013 Accord, I asked him if he had a cell phone, he said no....I asked him if he planned on buying an iPod, he said.....A i WHAT?.......I asked if he cared about a redesign, he said no..................so the 12 is the car for him.......
The customers who I know will WANT the technology that will be in the 13 Accord, I will advise them to extend their current lease or wait if they want to buy, if a customer wants a good deal, then a 13 will NEVER have the deal the 12 has right now, so why even bring it up as the same for the CIVIC........So NOBODY is "TRICKING" anyone and I am a bit tired of seeing you say that.............

From Iwamura's speech:
"For the Honda brand, this fall we launch the most critical model in our lineup an all-new Accord. The 2013 Accord will again be the unquestioned leader in the mid-size segment. And by the end of this year, we will introduce a minor model change of Civic. Despite the negative comments from media, Civic is the best-selling compact car over the past six months. But our goal is not only great sales, but true leadership in the compact segment. So, we pulled forward the MMC to make some key changes, including interior and exterior design refinements and ride and handling issues."
I don't see any hint that the 2013 Civic will get ED powertrain. I've lowered my hope for now. Probably they will wait until the 2nd MMC (2015) for the ED to be introduced internationally to all the markets incl. Europe & Asia. Honda never did 2 MMC's in North America as far as I know, but they do quite often for the JDM market so maybe there will be 2 MMC's for the Civic.
