Five years ago before the 2008 Accord made its debut, there were spy shots of the new accord on 04/12/07, 04/17/07 and 05/11/07 on this website. Are they testing the new Accord in some really remote place?

Due to the highly competitive market and new model releases from other auto makers Honda has delayed the introduction of the new Accord. Maybe we will see it as a '14 model?

Was it official that it was delayed? I haven't heard about it. Knew the Civic was, but not the Accord.

The tire pressure monitoring system not only tells the driver specifically what tire is low, but when you inflate each tire to the ideal, manufacturer-specified level, the car's horn sounds.
That's kind of cute... I guess.
But personally, I don't care much for "teasers" unless it comes with substantial information. Talking about sales like in that article is not exclusive; If they're not already thinking of kicking the Camry off its throne then they're doing it wrong.

I agree...I mean there is plenty of information about technical specs out there but what I am curious about is the interior and the sedan exterior design of course! Also, I don't know how Nissan is going to manage to pull that off without significant fleet sales which are heavily discounted usually. It's also going to be hard for them as the new accord and the fusion are going to be released this year as well! I am also curious about the accord's fuel economy...will it hit 40 MPG on the highway possibly?!? Now THAT would be quite an achievement on Honda's behalf especially without using any hybrid technology or turbo charging.

I think the Honda Accord WILL have other automakers back to the drawing board. In order to leave the least LEAD TIME or jumpstart from other automakers to rebuttal, Honda is keeping the Accord until the latest date it can. Just my two cents.

I hope the car is dynamic and dramatic, its gonna need to be in this highly competitive class. Sources are saying that Hyundai is moving the Sonata to a four year life cycle...the 2013 just went on sale so in about two years there will be an all new Sonata out again...When the Accord gets here in September, the Sonata will be about 1.5 years away from hitting lots again. The competition is FIERCE and I just hope Honda does more to the Accord than Nissan did to the Altima...outside of the 38 mpg (which IS impressive) the Altima doesn't seem like that much of an improvement to me, interior design, exterior design or features-wise, its just a big "meh" to me.

But what the AOL is Honda thinking? A CVT? That's a Stupid idea! As if we needed a more sluggish Accord! Might as well cancel the Accord altogether and give the market back to Chevy and Ford...

2013 Accord: What we've heard
While I was in Japan for the Tokyo Motor Show, I drove a prototype Accord model that was coupled to a new "earth dreams" direct-injection DOHC i-VTEC 2.4L 4-cylinder engine and was impressed not only by the engine's strong and broad torque curve, but by the responsive and direct feel of the new CVT design. I generally despise the lethargic and "laggy" feel of CVTs, but this new "Earth Dreams" CVT exhibited none of these annoying traits.
Not completely sure this is the same CVT they will use on the production model, but so far so good.

A colleague of mine was driving home to Ohio from his sister's funeral in Georgia this past weekend, and stated that he might have seen a new Accord 4-door prototype at a gas station off of I-75 around the Atlanta, GA area. The way he described it, the thing may have been nearly undisguised (he thought he noticed a Honda badge), likely in the White Orchid Pearl color (a "beautiful pearl"), but he couldn't remember what plates were on the car. (I'm surprised that, given the circumstances, he remembered anything; I sure as hell would be in a daze! Since he knows that I'm a Honda nut, and will be purchasing a new Accord (after giving him the right of first refusal to purchase my current 2006 EX-L V6), I know that he would have snapped a shot or two if he would have had the presence of mind.)
I showed him the thread with Neal's Photochop of the Concept C, and he told me that the car he saw was just about a dead ringer! (He was really impressed with the rims!)
Moral: These things may be hiding in plain sight! (And in Jeff's back yard!)

All track and night testing maybe. That, or the new Accord is so similar chassis and body wise that they have current gen mules running around that no one even notices.
It is unlikely, but possible, because these things have got to be in the wild somewhere.

Companies have gotten better at keeping protoypes hidden if they really want to. There were no shots of the Toyota Camry till someone caught it a month before intro filming a commercial. Toyota had did all of the work in Japan away from prying eyes. Seeing how important the Accord is to Honda,especially this time, it would not be surprising that alot of the testing is being done in Japan.........again away from prying eyes.By this time though they should be early builds hanging out in Ohio. Why Chris Douane or Brenda Priddy have not snag one yet is mystery.

The SH-AWD test mule was on an Accord chassis, and the SH^2-AWD test mule again, using current gen Accord chassis. So yeah, Honda might have a car running on flux capacitor running on Accord chassis as we speak.

That explains why we don't see it, they skipped present and went to the past for testing the car before cameras were everywhere, and went to the future to get new technology.

Frankly, it took me a while to get the reference, was double blinded with my (mostly failed) own attempt to crack a joke at TOV... Touché sir, touché...
Well, Honda is always fashionably late to the scene. My fanboy heart always told me that they always tested a new tech before making it available to the market. With their penchant chassis flexibility, I'm not surprised if Earth Dreams was already running around for more than a generation (5-6 years). Honda did dissect the Element, mounting the engine "the wrong way" and driving "the wrong wheel" and drift the crap out of it... While still looking like an Element.
