By looking at the slope on the rear hatch, looks like it will be cramped for a 6' person's head.

I can't imagine the MDX losing the third row. THey're already losing a lot of sales to the Enclave, that would make it even worse.

The '14 MDX will DEFINITELY not lose the third row.

Its going to be wider (interior wise) than before and a little bit longer, but not much from what I have heard. Also Its supposed to go back to the 3.5 with the ED powertrain. Supposedly the second row seating is supposed to change to be like the Buick's where the center seat can fold down ala Enclave to make better access for the third row.
Expect the price to jump quite a bit though.

Yes - the most popular rumor is the Earth Dreams 3.5L V6 at about 310hp. What worries me is low end torque is what the MDX most needs. Although ED engines are said to develop more torque, taking cubic inches out of a V6 will not help. Again, this is probably a case where fuel economy is running the show. So what if the motor has 260 or even 270 ft-lb torque (representing a very nie increase overcurrent 3.5L), the current 3.7L already has that much torque.
I've also heard the MDX will be starting around 49.5k and stretch up close to 60k for top-of-the-line. With that sort of an entry price, look for Acura's Value prop to take another hit.
I'll be in the market for a new vehicle about the time the MDX debuts. As a proud 1st Gen owner I have been targeting this new model as the replacement. I certainly hope it is a more drivers oriented vehicle like the 2nd Gen tends to be. I just feel this model needs at least 300 ft-lb of torque to be a serious player. Horsepower is nice, but torque gets things moving and helps comp the extra weight of passengers and gear.
Lets hope Acura gets right the 3rd Gen MDX. The first two have been home runs for their time and market conditions.

People PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE! You guys are like a bunch of YENTAS at a Bagel and LOX brunch..........Did you hear about Morris and Silvia, they sold the Summer home.........Guys, this is the 2014 MDX, it has a 3rd row, a new trans, engine and will be a class leading SUV........It's a stretched 2012 truck........this isn't the real MDX, the interior is not a production ready mule.......

I though as much, this car looks like [insert any profane word]. The headlights are obviously fake, looks like a junker from a 1994 and the side view mirror are missing. A test mule testing the ED tech is more appropriate.
However, if this is the real car, I suspect the MDX will have similar fancy headlights of the RLX prototype hence the junker dummy.

It's very likely the MDX will adopt the RLX hybrid powertrain, but the question is: Would it offer a AWD, SH-AWD or FWD alternative? Is SH=AWD being faded out?
RDX= FWD, AWD
RLX= FWD, SHSH-AWD
MDX= ?

Lets just say Honda/Acura isn't just going to make the electric AWD system for just 2 limited production cars............It won't be cost effective...... ;-) What those cars will be is the question..........

It would make sense that the MDX gets the e-shawd and fwd with four wheel steer. The only question is how much of an improvement would a fwd MDX get?
Andrew I have heard that dealers have seen pics of the MDX at a meeting in Vegas. Any truth?

That this is the MDX mule, it is not an actual production mule, they are testing the engine and trans in a "reworked" current MDX........that is all I can post........

If it is a "reworked" current MDX, then you will need to tell them that I would have bought an MDX over my Pilot now only if there is more space behind the 3rd row. I cannot fit a stroller with the 3rd row up on the current one. Also, don't design the rear window too flat like the mule, as it will provide more head room for the 3rd row seaters.

Again, it is a TEST mule for the DRIVE TRAIN.......how they hack up the body to throw us all off is their choice........You guys take the stuff you see WAY to serious..........

Remember, the RLX uses an electric motor sandwiched between the engine and tranny. So even with only 310hp from the engine, the additional torque(low end) from the elec. motors should be adequate.
We can assume that the motors mounted in the rear wheels of the RLX ain't making it into the MDX.

Whats odd is that most engineering mules especially say cooling test vehicles (likely task for this vehicle) have a new nose grafted on to an old body, usually wrap only the nose.
