It seems it's not here yet, according to this review.
That leaves Lexus as the reigning upscale hybrid champ, with Audi and BMW close behind with upscale diesels.

With Hybrid's still not getting widespread acceptance, (except for the appliance like Prius) and the repeat hybrid purchase percentage being low, Honda is probably being smart by just using the tweaked Civic Hybrid set up in this car.

It's not a hybrid but it's pretty efficient for a v6-powered CUV with the packaging and performance that the RDX offers.

Personally, I believe the RDX to be a large improvement from the last generation. Only because it was finally "repositioned" into its rightful place as an upscale, comfortable compact crossover. Its original iteration was chasing an extremely small segment (yuppies who want a sport crossover?); this one is better suited to take on the mainstream population.

I find it unfortunate that Acura did not expand on the turbo 4, but I feel the V6 is better suited to the luxury market.

I too wish the K23t could have been revamped as Acura needs a larger, more exclusive drivetrain offerings. I thought I read somewhere that Honda was working on a turbocharged engine but I'm unsure of what application it was going to be used in.

I am not sure what people are expecting. Reviewers seem to approach it with "been there done that" already and the car isn't even on lots.

I sure as hell have, more than once. I am extremely aware of how slow this thing is now, and unless I have yards and yards of space, I don't move.

Working along the highway at speed is usually ok, but turning into the flow of moving traffic takes planning.

Jeeez... aren't we the old lady here? Come on... I've driven worst. Merging onto a freeway ALWAYS requires some planning.

Like I said, you just punch it, hold it there (yes.. 'S' helps) and go for it. Using your turn signal helps too... lets the other bozos (we're all bozos on the freeway) know which way you plan to take your circus show.

Just avoid gas tankers with an attitude... ;-)

Err.. midwestern fellow... we're talking FREEWAYS here.. not highways.

Like, you know, 4 to 6 lanes per side, with even the Old Ladies from Pasadena on the Number 3 lane doing 82 mph in their Camrys and Buicks.

Trick is, TRANSIT AND VACATE the slow lanes ASAP... that's where the concerned drivers gunning for the next exit are slowing down onto and where the serious iron runs (*) (unless you want to end up in a Duel with an Independent Gas Tanker Truck on the LA Crest Highway, in which case "Vaya Con Dios Amigo"...).. so you speed up to "Old Lady From Pasadena Speed" and get on the Number 3 lane ASAP...

Simple... just wait to light up the cigar until you make it to the Number 2 lane.

(*) In California, vehicles with three axles or more are not allowed on the two left lanes: Lanes 1 (fast lane) and 2. On narrower three lane freeways, they are not allowed on Lane 1. I think exceptions are made for busses to get onto the carpool lanes, which in SoCal are to the left of the Number 1 lane.

What is even remotely original about the RX? It's a smaller SUV. Everybody has one these days. The form factor is such that there really is only one way you can go with it and hence they are all pretty much the same. To single out any one of these vehicles for lacking distinctiveness is ridiculous because none of them have that. They can't. The basic layout and shape of these products is limited by what they are and the size they aim for. Hence, there isn't that much difference between them. There is no room for much of a difference.

That's because you go slow to begin with and so have to SPEED UP to change.

I, OTOH, speed up to go with the flow, or faster, that way I have to SLOW DOWN to change lanes.

Nothing wrong with the brakes there.

The idea is to maximize your ability to choose when and where you speed up while reacting to the slow downs. I know it sounds backwards but that's the only way to drive it safely in traffic.

That, and relaxing... realize that it's no Si so there maybe times when you should not change lanes.

I'm thinking along the lines of one of these... could be useful when merging on traffic...

I know exactly what DCR is talking about. Not sure how Cali works but Michigan is one place where you HAVE to speed up to merge because of the way the on-ramps are designed.

I don't know who the hell designs the ramps/merges here, but one I have to take every morning is the worst of my trip. The road forks, and I go to the left, and the corner is very tight, and I can't go more than 20-25 mph.

When I come out, I have until the green sign ahead there to get over (I need to get where the van is because my lane ends fast)...and in rush hour with cars in that lane (fast lane) whipping by at 70-80, I certainly miss the 2nd gear pull of the Si.

Bah humbug.... rural highway.... I'm shaking... ;-)

Try merging onto the San Diego Fwy (405) during rush hour. Specially at a metered on ramp. You have to STOP and then GO and merge. Great fun on an Si for sure, a test of your endurance, self reliance and self confidence (and a bit of madness) in your hybrid.

Like I told you, it takes just a bit of guts and religious fervor (*)... floor it, use your turn signal and start moving over. Just make sure you got your seat belts on.

(*) May the Force be with you... that's not an SUV doing 90....
