I think Honda could have got into the mini-cargovan game with the next Element. Maybe not so much for Japan since Daihatsu or Suzuki probably have a lock on that market. But areas like North American were practically begging for them.
I see Transit Connects everywhere. The business i work for dropped the Equinox and old minivans they had for inter-company mail and cargo, with a pair of Transits. Its wide enough to fit a standard pallet or a few euro skids and fits taller items than the full size E-series does.
In Europe manufactures sell low roof versions of these cars, I could see Honda going this route. It wouldn't be perfect but a commercial version of the Element would shore up sales and keep the passenger version available to dog lovers and ppl who love that kind of vehicle. They are goofy looking but get the job done. The only other vehicle that may fit the bill would be a Mazda 5, which is a great car that just never seems to connect with people.
