I see a LOT of the Odyssey in this vehicle.
It looks lower and wider, and the roofline reminds me a lot of the Odyssey from the way it slopes rearward and is anything but square at the rear.
I also feel like rear third of the vehicle will be very unconventional.

I see it too. Very low slung and wide, like a wagon a la XC70. I don't think I'm going to like this vehicle unfortunately.

As someone with an XC70 in the family and a Pilot, I do see the connection. This MDX looks to have grown up in size

Yes, probably grown in size. It needs to. The new RDX will bite into the current MDX market, so the new MDX has to differentiate. My guess, the MDX will be much more Pilot sized, just with Acura luxury and tech.

I was thinking the same. Its the thickness of the A-pillar and its upright orientation with little canting in from the sides that struck me and make me think of the Odyssey. I hope the two samurai's of Wako are watching the Pasadena Design folks closely.

I would be happy if they were to drop the RLX powertrain into the Odyssey, lower it a couple of inches, wider tires, taughter handling, and put in six or seven fabulously comfortable seats in it and call it the Acura TDX. Of course it would need to have a sound system that meets TonyE's taste and includes bluetooth headsets for the kids.

There is no damn way this is a forthcoming MDX. If it is, Acura is heading south with this form-factor and will undermine sales of what to me is the best looking SUV on the market today. Don't blow it Acura!

I dont like it at all. I would never drive a vehicle like this with so much camouflage on it.

Considering the RDX went through puberty (grew larger and gained a 3.5L V6), Acura is probably planning on making this MDX a bit larger as well. Maybe even 8 person seating!

It's impossible to say anything intelligent about this mule. The camo job is just too heavy.
That caveat understood, I'm not at all convinced this is the MDX. A powertrain mule? Maybe. But the general proportions are just so wrong, I have a hard time thinking of this as an SUV. That wheelbase looks closer to 120" than 108". The departure angles look far more like a minivan than an SUV.
There are a few details that make it clear it's not a minivan. The rear door handles are at the back of the door, for example. (Obviously not sliders.) And the C pillar is the wrong shape for a people mover. It really looks like an over-sized Venza.

Given the higher focus on fuel economy and weight savings I don't think the MDX will grow at all. The RDX needed what Acura gave it in terms of increased size and refinement while the current MDX had those attributes from the get go.
If you see the RDX and MDX side by side it's clear the MDX is the larger vehicle without question. Im sure Acura will carve out some extra interior cubes but I really don't see the need for the MDX's footprint to grow at all.
