On the colors:
The names conjure up a mental image/flash of color, which I had to consolidate with existing Honda and Acura color palettes and a google color search, then take an artistic leap.
At the same time I had to be aware of the overall theme of the color palettes, differentiation from one color to the next and some historical reference. Ugh.
"Crystal Black" - known. "Alabaster Silver" (time to let that one go!) - known. "Basque Red II" - known. "San Marino Red" - known.
It's been suggested that the blues should be swapped, but "Still Night Pearl" suggests a certain "midnight blue" (I half thought of rolling some purple in there) while a search for "obsidian blue" shows another type of blue with hints of cobalt and cyan - another tough one. I wonder if "Still Night" is the same blue to be found on the coming ILX?
"Hematite Metallic" is a pretty neutral, 70-80% darker gray so one might not see the warmer tones hoped for; a variation on "Polished Metal" perhaps?
"Modern Steel" is a sort of gun-metal blue-gray; cold in comparison to Hematite.
"Tiger Eye Pearl" - like the gemstone. Should it be more brown or will they "go bold" with an amber orange?
"Champagne Frost Pearl" - strange; hard to render; a cooler beige like the RLX concept?
"White Orchid Pearl" - a new one; a "rainbow" type of white?
Opinion: Aside from "Tiger Eye Pearl," Honda again plays is safe with color. I was anticipating a 25% more "adventurous" color palette, more thematically related to "Earth Dreams" - more "organic" colors such as a sky blue, mossy green (EU Civic) and amber. Maybe next time..!

I for one am hoping that this color palette will cross into other vehicles coming off the Honda production line.
They are brighter more interesting more exciting that the current funeral home color palette

I want a brighter blue on the coupe, so I hope that somehow Still Night means bright blue, but I doubt it.
My guesses, given zero research or experience:
"Hematite Metallic" - going to be like a "Galaxy Gray" deal on the old Si...gray with a heavy tone of something else under it (brownish on that one)
"Modern Steel" - Polished Metal Metallic renamed
"Tiger Eye Pearl" - Orange-ish end of the spectrum
"Champagne Frost Pearl" - God save us all
"White Orchid Pearl" - Probably a white with a metallic hue under it (galaxy gray approach again), and possibly a purplish tint in the sun

I'm glad you noted that, because after reading your long analysis of each color I was going to tell you that you probably didn't have to put so much work into it!
A plain variety of: Red, Blue, Black, White, Silver. = Always.
The gunmetal color. A usual staple.
A couple of beige for the older crowd.
No surprises, same old crap.

I was expecting a bit more extensive a color range for the sedan at least, especially after all the "we're bringing it" nonsense by Mendel. I thought there'd be a deep bronze/mocha metallic and maybe a deeper green metallic (to replace the sort of unfortunate Sage Green Met. in the new CRV).
The color limitations on the current Coupe did that vehicles design no favors - they were mostly flat looking and didn't accentuate the fluid exterior.

Colors options on cars have seemed kind of boring to me latley (in general), however I'm not sure what other colors I would expect to see. Some of the compacts out there have some interesting colors but I don't know how that would translate to a midsize sedan, or who might buy it.
Tiger eye pearl sounds good to me, but obviously not on a sedan. I'm curious to see what Modern Steel will look like.
I would like to see some kind of a purple like 6gen accord had..

That's what I was thinking. Honda has done a lot of nice deep dark purple colors.

Funny you should mention that. I was going to color the new sedan image "Black Currant Pearl" but it was shrouding many of the details! Awesome color, btw, but the clearcoat had a tendency to fall off!

White Orchid Pearl is not new, it is the current white on the V6 Accords.

You're right. Good to see that it will now be the only white on Accords. That Taffeta White on the current 4cyl Accords looked like it belonged in the appliance dept. of Sears.

Yeah I've noticed over the years that is the only color I see with the clearcoat problem. I still love the color, I had a truck painted a similar 'purple haze' taken from the 92 camero
