Great work, Neal. I like it.
While it has a hint of Hyundai and maybe a hint of Mazda (not sure why exactly I think that), I still think it's overall unique and looks great. Besides, no matter what you do it will always have hints of something. The hoffmeister kink is certainly not unique in the industry.
I think this is a good blend between interesting and moderation... cool enough to attract new, proud owners but not so wild as to scare away the mainstream base or look outdated in a couple of years.
Let's hope you're not far off the mark!

This one still retains a blend of all the "concept" bits, but I hope that when a bulk of them are removed, what's left will still be visually interesting. Anything has to be better than the new Camry! Ugh. Fear the future Sonata and Optima, though. They'll be coming for the jugular...
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago how I think Honda may be chasing the lesser H on the design front, only to see how Hyundai has begun the process of significantly dialing it back on the design flash - based on their much cleaner concepts of late and coming Santa Fe. I hope Honda doesn't get "duped" by internalizing too much of the design criticism, and "over-reacted" to pursuing an aesthetic that might be found to be distinctly "non-Honda."
Is a trend forming where Hondas will get a sort of (post-Hyundai) "Fluidic Sculpture" and Acura assumes past-Honda conservative styling re-named "Keen-Edge, Aero-Fused?"
If the general shape and some detailing is retained, I might consider this bigger car. I have some nice HFPs that would give a nice dress up. 18s on any Honda do wonders.
I tend to glorify and idealize these renderings so much that when reality sets in it can be a bit of a let-down. Like some rose-colored, virtual reality. I figure it's because I treat these like a graphic design project, placed up on some pedestal of perfection. Lucky for Honda, then...
The blue was sampled from the new CrossTour concept. It seemed to suggest eco and a certain "Earth Dream" y-ness. And "baby colors" can sometimes look intriguing on more aggressively style cars. Like a mixed message.
I recall when the new Elantra debuted, most of the PR pics showed a similar color - almost as if it was suggesting the car was a hybrid. Sure beats Champagne Beige. Clever, Hyundai.
Just a note that I am amazed we have still not seen a single Accord spy shot. Wow!
