Hydrogen costs around the same as gasoline? That is very unfortunate.

given that the hydrogen infrastructure is a new-born infant compared to the oil and gas industry, I would say that if it costs the same as gas today then it is pretty promising for years down the line.

I think the energy efficiency of a hydrogen powered car is also better, but I could be wrong about that as I don't remember the numbers right now.

I find this hydrogen storage method intriguing. With the current infrastructure it seems there is only environmental benefit. I would like to see a benefit in the consumers pocket book as well.

You know, that video was shot when the gas was 3USD/gal ... and they made it very clear, this kind of cars are intended to be "for the next 100 years", so I guess that by then H2 can be much cheaper than whatever they ask you for petrol.

PS: I liked the video a lot (it's spot on with my personal opinion). The Leno bit should be specially revealing for many haters of new car tech, though I think he is missing something, which is that many here would like the automakers to keep producing cheap and fun petrol cars, and that in the future he is talking about petrol cars may become a luxury as horses are now for most people. Back in the old days horses were a commodity, but not everyone can afford having his garage...
