I understand your concerns. I wouldn't mind having a blind spot monitor but I would still look over my shoulder before making a lane change. Hopefully people won't come to completely rely on these systems because if they fail, they may end up causing accidents rather than preventing them.

It seems Honda may be taking a similar a approach to your idea. I've noticed that most cars equipped with BSM have it on both mirrors. IIRC, the '13 Accord will have BSM on the passenger side mirror only but the drivers mirror is supposed to have an extended view like the CR-Vs I suppose. I'm curious if they did it this way to cut costs.

I have a feeling all new hondas and acuras will have those type of curved mirrors. The new ILX and RDX both have them.

doesn't the new cr-v have something similar?
I have something similar on my BMW, it's an aspheric wide angle mirror which completely eliminates the blind spot

If it was amber I wouldn't have went through so many thots in my head and knew instantly that B was changing lanes. This thread popped into my head right after it happened.

I know my 2001 accord has red signals so I always signal and let it flash 4-5 times before I slowly enter the lane cuz I know ppl might not see me. sigh!

If the Impala had mirror mounted turn signals there would have been no confusion as to driver intent and kept your blood pressure at a normal rate. Change the petition to adopting Euro standards of vehicle lighting.
