Very nice. Definitely closer to what I'd love to see Honda do. Hopefully rear visibility would not be overly compromised.

What I'd like to see is this car aimed more at those looking for better performance vs. the ILX. More power, without too much of a fuel consumption penalty. Definitely a more performance-oriented suspension. Offer a choice of either an automatic or a six-speed manual and provide one grade of car that can be had with an optional tech package.

No leather, no sunroof, to keep cost down as close to $30,000 in base form as possible, while increasing head room and lowering weight. Maybe I'm wrong on this but if Acura could deliver affordable performance in a practical package, the unavailability of leather or the sunroof would not turn off that many potential buyers. No navi/ELS sound option, which is the choice made with the 2.4L ILX, seems to me to be more of a turnoff than losing leather/sunroof which are, in my opinion, way overrated as upgrades.

A design like this makes so much sense, it's a mystery why Honda doesn't seem interested in going there. Perhaps Honda is but is saving something like this for the next act. I hope that what we're not going to get is an ILX wagon that is indistinguishable from the sedan in terms of how it drives. That would not, in my opinion, generate a lot of sales but a five-door hatch delivering sharper, more enthusiast-focused performance, surely the powers that be can see that there is a real market for such a product.

One comment I'd like to make is that for this car to succeed, Honda would have to aim for a sporty look (similar to what Neal has successfully rendered), not produce a rather ugly, truck-like mess like the Crosstour. Affordable, sporty yet practical. Doesn't seem like too much to ask. Honda, are you listening?
