(Shawn) Brake upgrade for 2008 Base TL?    (Score: 1, Normal) 04-30-2012 14:48

I recently purchased a mint pearl white/parchment 2008 TL/5AT (finally sold my 03 CL-S 6MT) with only 19,000 miles and I absolutely hate the mediocre brakes on this car! Ive read where I can use the Brembo calipers from the Type-S with some changes to the knuckles I believe? Any recommendations?!?

Unless you're planning heavy track duty, you'd just be wasting your money. I'd recommend an upgrade to better pads and flushing with some Motul RBF brake fluid. This will get you more stopping power, better feel and more fade resistance. I recommend either Performance Friction or Carbotech pads. I've also had some excellent result with some of Ferodo's latest compounds as well for aggressively driven street cars. I'd recommend the DS2500. This pad is similar to the type of pad which comes stock on a car like the Evo X or 370Z track. I think you'd like it.

That sounds much more reasonable. I won't be tracking the car at all as I have a 02 S2000 for that but on a recent spirited drive on the road I live on which has a lot of elevation changes and sharp curves I could smell the brakes after about three hard braking situations and of course brake shudder. Not very confidence inspiring. Would you recommend a set of SS brakelines also with the pad/rotor upgrade?
