No more gimmicky blue crap.
I get what Honda is trying to do, they're trying to bring high content to the small car, something that mazda has done very successfully with the 3, against the civic for a while now. The reason the EL did well in Canada was that it looked different, and the premium over the Civic was justifiable in warranty and feature set. I'm not sure this does the job against the 3 or the focus, never mind its upmarket competition.
Like you said, the base model should do decently, if not well in that line of thought. However, those other packages are out to lunch.

I find these 'new' gauges disappointing since most new cars have now multi-color higher res info screens. E.g. new Altima, Focus and Huyndai Kia.
The navigation screen is also still same old graphics as well (VGA!). No 3D mode or other improvements.

The gauges themselves look like they came out of a ten year old car - honestly they look very similar to what was in my 99 Civic.
The digital readout is exactly like that found in our 10 Insight.
For the money that Honda thinks people will be willing to spend on this they sure aren't offering up much that's special.

I agree revvin, it is nice to see simple, clean and easy to read gauges again. They kind of remind me of the 1st gen TSX gauges, which I think are Acura's best gauges ever.

They remind me of the RDX gauges...because I think they are:

RLX too:

That's a good thing, DCR. White on black (and blue or green lighting) is the way to go... clearly labelled and not too much clutter. btw- good catch!

my fave too, the only thing that would make them better was if the idle was at 6 o'clock. purely functional.

How does the one in 99 Civic look like?

I like gauges even though it's nothing new really from current Acura's. But the info screen is too low res just like the new RDX. Look at the '07 MDX which has about same info screen (MDX has higher res though). No change in 5 years incl. navigation resolution which is sad. How expensive can higher res color display be?

To illustrate this is the Altima 2013:

Yikes - that's a vast improvement on the old Altima stuff.

absolutely... somewhere here on the site, on a thread, I commented on how nice the new Altima's gauge cluster is. Honda and Acura's MIDs have been sort of a joke (from a resolution standpoint) since their introduction, and sadly, Acura's MIDs have been with us for a LONG time and they haven't progressed much.
