Has anyone (reliably) tested their 0-60 times for their RSX Type-S? I've been reading a lot of magazines and they post different times for the car each damn issue. R/T has a 6.9 time, C/D has a 6.1 in their initial review and then a 6.3 in their latest comparo (June issue), and Sport Compact Car has a 6.7. Basically I'm looking for someone who has driven their car and tested it. Anyone?

each mag has different ways of testing acc times.
some put 2 ppl in the car and sometimes they're pretty big guys. also, some put full or half-tank petrol.
other factors like
track temp, humidity, also run in mileage of the car... just get an average. but really acc doesn't really count for everything

not to mention that every motorplant of any car is different. There are no two 2.0 I-VTEC homologated to 200 Hp equal to another, and the same goes for the rest of the car. Unfortunately, I think the time for the 0-60 is not homologated in the States, as the EPA do fot the gas milleage for example. So it's difficult to compare cars.

Most importantly, can anybody refute the claims made on CarPoint.com by Daniel Heraud? Note his comments on 0-60.

Those are some awful times he achieved. I could get that doing a rolling start!
I'd say a good time for the RSX-S in completely stock form, with stock air pressures, all fluids filled, etc., would probably be on the order of 6.5-6.7 seconds. Adjust air pressures, less fuel, optimum weather conditions, I could see 6.1-6.3. Adding real tires, you might break into 5.9 or so. That's about it, though. Getting great 0-60 times with an FF car is limited mostly by physics.

i have emailed the editors of carpoint a couple times complaining about his awful driving. i remember when the CL type S first came out, he had better numbers for the base model.....wtf??? 35 more horses, same weight, and slower numbers? and they were both auto's. he cant even drive an automatic car! lamer, i say. im with ryanDL on this one- i could pull that time with a rolling start, on the crappiest tires made (i know the michelins are pretty close to that, but i digress), with a 400lb fat lady singing next to me. he probably drops the clutch at idle, and then shifts at 3k rpms. GOSH I CANT STAND DANIEL HERAUD!!!

I think I could beat that on dirt... uphill. Pathetic. Who is this loser?

Bwahaha...
When we tested the Civic Si (instrumented, two methods, not a stopwatch), we got consistent 7.7-7.8 0-60 times - in a car that weighs almost as much as the RSX-S and makes 40 less hp - oh, and we had to shift to 3rd gear to hit 60!
Hell, even our 5-60 rolling start times were 7.8 seconds. Heraud is a dipshit. Said it before, saying it now and I'm pretty sure I'll be saying it again.

...not just because he obviously can't drive worth a damn. Any review that rates a sports car on its Engineering -> Cargo Space and Engineering -> Passenger Volume
is bullshit

I just test-drove a Type S, and the salesman encouraged me to really thrash it (I might buy one, but not THAT one...). A VERY satisfying 100mph jaunt ensued.
It's fun, a way better VTEC feel than my 02Si. and it's fast enough that a couple tenths variation from test to test don't really make a difference (to me, at least).
