"My guess - the ILX is going to see mostly women buyers, between ages 30-50. The Jetta sells in this segment too. They'll miss the mark on their target demographic again, just like the Element ended up selling to a much older crowd."

That is a very interesting comment you made in another thread.

I had the opportunity to participate a quick "mini-clinic" with a group of 12-14 people consisting of 10-11 men and 2 women.

The gentlemen offered little enthusiasm and some skepticism for this 2.4, citing such things as (suggested) pricing, size and styling. Comments (unfiltered, as I quickly wrote them down) from the men included:

"Too much money for this."
"Looks like a girl's car."
"It reminds me of a ZDX."
"I can't fit in the back."
"This car isn't needed."
"The trunk is too small."
"What does this mean for the TSX?"
"The front passenger seat should be powered."
"I'm really looking forward to the RDX."
"I don't like the wheels."
"Those are the lousy tires."
"I just don't know."
"It's alright. I was expecting more."
"The stereo sounds good."
"I like the gauges."
"I think it looks really cool." (young male, age early 20s)
"The grille looks better but the front is too long compared to the back."
"Where's the exhaust? Is it like that on all of them?"

From the 2 (very enthusiastic) women; ages approx mid-late 20s and late 40s-early50s:

"It's cute!"
"Can you get this one in an automatic?"
"This is just my size."
"Why don't you like it?!"
"Is it fast?!"
"Why don't the seats split?"
"Can you just leave it with me?" (twice, from late 20-year-old)
"I would totally drive this!"
"This is me."
"It's awesome."
"I think it's really nice."
"I like the (flared) fenders alot."
"I really like the headlights."
"The seats are so comfortable."
"You guys are crazy!"

The group slowly dispersed with little fanfare.

Please note that in no way am I "stacking the deck" with these comments one way or another, but represent spontaneous, on-the-spot impressions gathered a quickly as I could note them, and may or may not align with mine or your current or future opinions. They come from those who were able to look, touch and hear, but certainly not drive. So take them for what they are worth: opinions. What I can say, though, is that this group represents a specific body of knowledge and not necessarily the intended audience.

Of course, some verbalized comments were either not heard by me or not noted due to my being in conversation with individuals of the group.

I thought some of you might be interested in these verbalized opinions from a particular group.

Thanks Neal. I still firmly believe a hot hatch ala the Integra successor would have generated much more enthusiasm amongst that crowd of guys you polled. Would have loved to hear their reaction to this, had it been right beside the ILX...

You know what that color reminds me of?

Easy to see why the ILX isn't exciting at all, after these heart attack yellow rides!

As for the color, I'm reminded of the rare Inca Pearl (IIRC) used on the 7th gen Civic.
