I mean, the Lexus ES has sold very well for YEARS while being "nothing more than a rebadged Camry". People that normally walk into the Acura dealership aren't generally walking into Honda. People on this forum/site do... but you guys have to stop thinking your opinion = the world.

There's a significant difference between the Camry and Lexus ES vs the ILX and Civic.
Why? Because Acura's simply aren't that luxurious. Get in a Lexus, and you see a noticeable jump in quality finish, material-wise. The problem Acura's have always had is that they feel like overglorified Hondas--the most notorious example being the Acura RL. It's true across the entire line-up, the all-new RDX included--and no, it's not changing with the ILX.
Sure the Acura has more luxury options, like HIDs or whatever. But those technology options aren't inherently luxury (after all some compact cars have HID as an option).
Get in a Lexus ES, and it feels like a Lexus. Get in any Acura, and it just feels like a slightly tarted up Honda.

There is a significant difference between the Camry and ES because the last gen Camry interior was so crappy and cheap feeling and looking. The Honda Accord interior blew the Camry interior away so the difference between the Accord and Acura TL or TSX are not going to be as great. That does not mean the ES has a nicer interior then a TL, it is just the Accords interior is much nicer then the Camrys and the difference is not as big. Most Honda interiors are much nicer, more solid, and put together better then Toyota interiors so the difference between them and Acura's are not as great as between Toyota and Lexus.
The only overlap between a Honda and Acura interior was really only with the Integra interior compared to a Prelude where there was not much if any real difference in quality, materials, nicer design, etc. The RSX had a nicer interior then any Honda at the time though.
I can immediately see and feel a big difference between a Acura and Honda interiors, most Acura interiors are just as nice as Lexus interiors or BMW, Mercedes, Audi interiors when prices are similar. The RL interior is still one of the nicest in its class and is leaps and bounds better then anything in the Honda lineup.
Honda's have been getting more and more features and more luxury oriented interiors so the difference between them and Acura's have been shrinking some but that is happening with many brands, Maxima-G37, Avalon-ES, Passat-A4, etc.
