This kind of change is not unprecedented. There were a lot of changes to the 2002 Civic from the intro 2001. Now in that case, there was not appearance change, but lots of stuff under the hood.
As to the interior, I wish they would just start with the Euro civic interior and make it fit in the US Civic (I understand the dimensions don't line up). The euro interior was much more thought out.

Sounds like a step in the right direction, looking forward to seeing the 2013 improvements. Would love to see ED powertrain too, but I'm certain 2012 owners would be insulted if that occured in addtion to the improvements HondaAFVM noted.

The changes will be noticeable and well done.......

Are you privy to what the refresh looks like? Is the interior up to snuff now?
|
Yes and yes......according to what I think....my understanding is that it will be enough of a change to be noticeable, but not insult the people that bought a 2012, but the people who complained should be happy......It's a thin line they have to walk........

My brain is frozen........."ED powertrain"????? Help me on this one??

I'm going to take a stab here at the changes for the 2013 model year Civic:
1.) Trunk lid will receive the taillight extensions that all the other markets got on the 2012. Similar to the 2011 Accord refresh.
2.) Sliding lid for central cupholders.
3.) LX will get 16" tires/wheels and Bluetooth connectivity.
4.) All models will get better quality cloth seats.
5.) Interior door panels will be reinforced to feel more sturdy. Will probably also get the aluminum looking strip on the upper door panel like on the rest of the worlds 2012 models.
6.) Dash plastics updated with better quality plastics.
7.) Redesigned central area around the stereo.
8.) Redesigned front and rear bumpers.
9.) Redesigned front grill for the sedan. Maybe color coded or blacked out grill or mustache instead of chrome mustache.
The rest of the world also seems to get switch blade style keys similar to what Mazda/VW uses. This is not a big deal but pretty cool nonetheless.
Honda AFVM, am I close here in my prediction?

Just saw a version of the new Civic 4 door sedan that came from a neighboring country this afternoon (they have all the better cars, and they get them first). The design isn't bad at all from the sides IMO, but from the front straight on it's a bit less striking than the asian Civic and the rear could use a more attractive light design. The rear light is is clear but a bit of red reflector that isn't particularly nicce. The color is a weird aqua blue / grenn / gray that I think did nothing to help either.
I think the front grill and rear lights will definitely be reworked. I did not have a chance to see the interior up close.

this one
proximity sensors....
Can also be got with the R20 ILX engine. lower trim models have a switchblade key. most have paddle shifters. and a back up camera.
Still in Singapore they probably cost more than an RL does here.

Hope the updated version comes with projector headlights, heck nearly every one have them.

Not sure where you reside, but many of the Civic competitors in the U.S. (Focus, Cruze, Corolla, Sentra, Elantra sedan, Forte) actually lack projectors. I do agree it would be a nice addition though.

I reckon - Singaporean cars often cross into Malaysia where Fish resides, only other possibility is Thailand and you see very few thai registered cars in Malaysia. Less he's in east Malaysia and its from Brunei - but I very much doubt that - they only drive ferrari station wagons there....

I AM talking about Brunei. Where the foreign grasscutter workers drive Malaysian cars that Malaysian bank managers drive. They do have all the Ferraris and stuff, but since we're talking about the Civic I just only saw one of these new Civics. I didn't know they launched in Singapore too.
But those pics you posted look pretty much like the same car, except in a better color. Unless Honda is going to simply just bring the Asian version over as the MMC?
