The Odyssey is the best car for Asian food - it has that neat "curry hook" on the left side of the center console. For hooking on your Indian or Chinese take-out. That is what these hooks are called in the UK - I am slowly trying to educate the masses here about this term...

As Andrew says where has the best food is all down to personal taste. My town, Calgary, has improved its ethnic food beyond all recognition in the last 20 years. As people from all over have moved in. I personally think the Japanese food offerings are better and cheaper than anywhere - and I have lived in Japan. well - for a short period...but people I know who lived there long term don't really disagree. Best steak is in Argentina. Now that is a fact....!

Oh and as far as Indian food is concerned, and I am British so I should know about this.....it's the Bukhara at the Sheraton in Delhi. Kind of a long way to go for a take out..... But for variety, value and service the US beats everywhere else on the planet.

There's literally several hundred kinds of curry out there, but I'm a big fan of every variety I've come across!

I can't comment on Calgary's food choices (though I have a friend currently working at CN rail there). But I can say with confidence that Toronto's Mill St. brewery comes out with better stuff than the stuff from Big Rock! Try a Tankhouse or a Wit...

Canadians do indeed make very good Lagers. Most of the microbreweries in the US West Coast are ales.

If HMC is really serious about it. then they should bring back the MT option to the Civic EX, Fit Sport NAVI, ALL ACCORDS, ALL TSXs and even the CRV.

THAT will show me that HMC and AHM are SERIOUS about getting back to their roots.

Even if the take up ratio is 1%.

Ignore the complains from AHM. Just DO IT.

I agree to a point...certainly when it's only a trim version of a car that already offers an MT in that body style and equipped with that engine, like an Civic (non-Si) or 4 cylinder Accord. No cost to Honda to offer it, that chassis and powertrain configuration are already EPA certified.

Even if AHM doesn't want to deliver them to dealers, should at least make those available for special order so dealers don't have to complain. Still allows the select few who want a EX-L Navi MT version of an Accord or Civic to get one, however, which would be nice.

I'd also enjoy a sunroof delete option too on the Civic Si, again special order, just like you can do with Lexus. I'm betting teh 'body in white' Civic shells HPD is selling don't have sunroof cutouts, so why not offer the same thing to the enthusiasts who aren't building full out race cars, but still use them for autocross and high performance driving events.
They take away helmet room and is extra weight in the absolute worst place you can have it.

In canada all Fits can be got with MT, the EX Civic also. But thats about it. Oh of course all Accord coupes do. then there's the base accord sedan. That's it. There would be plenty of people buying CRVs in manual if they also had the DTEC engine. I think the Civic Si should have an auto - that would also garner some sales. the fact that the ILX 2.4 has no auto is completely insane. Sure it might hurt a few TSX sales but so what - there has to be more margin in the ILX for Honda.

I like the sunroof in my Si. I'm 6' even, so the headroom doesn't bother me (particularly because of the seat height adjust). If the end goal is autoX, there are a LOT more challenges to the Civic's handling than the sunroof, that is really far down the list of things you can do to the car. Seriously, unless you're an SCCA champion I doubt you can really feel the difference. Oh noez, an extra roll moment generated by the sunroof! =O

Like the saying goes, the first step to recovery is acknowledging that you have a problem.

As for this: "[T]he battle for Honda's automotive soul is being played out in places like Asahi and Minami's sprawling third-floor studio in the Tokyo suburb of Wako. If the upscale Aoyama neighborhood that houses Honda's headquarters can be likened to New York's Fifth Avenue, then Wako would be a dreary town in New Jersey."

Hey, what's wrong with New Jersey? :-)

Dude, NOTHING..... (except for those ugly chemical plants facing NYC when you take off from Newark's airport).

The place is a gastronomical heaven... One of the best dinners I ever had was in Hoboken... at a Mafia owned fish restaurant that merged Las Vegas with Miami Vice... but offered some of the best italian fish plates and big ass, serious martinis I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. If you like REAL Italian food, NJ is DA PLACE, paisano..

Don't even get me started with the Portuguese, Brazilian, Galician and Jewish food. I almost kissed the waiter when he brought up my plate of "Pulpo de Feria".... It'd been like 30 years since I had that dish.

In LA you eat Mexican/Asian/fusion.... BUT in New Jersey.. OMG... California Pizza Kitchen need NOT apply. ;-)

You got that right brother, some of the BEST food........I'm from Long Island, talk about FOOD!

I am born and raised in NJ and I can definitely vouch for the food part. Short of going to those countries, you will find some of the best Mom & Pop ethnic eateries. Domino's, Papa John's, etc. never opened up locations near where I grew up because of all the authentic Italian restaurants. If you want some of the best paella, go to Jersey City. The Jewish Delis and bagel shops are the real deal. Little India in Iselin has some of the best Northern/Southern Indian food you can find. Whenever I go back to visit I always make sure to stop by some of the old favorites.

I'm a Jersey guy and have to agree. It's unfortunate that most people judge it by what they see when they take off and land at Newark. I live about 30 minutes south of there in a nice town called Tinton Falls, within 15 minutes of me we have even nicer towns like Red Bank, up-and-coming Asbury Park, the beach, just about any store you could want to shop at, and a ton of beautiful county parks all around. I love it here.
